Hello, I’ve got a mbp mid 2014 8gb/256ssd and I’m using traktor pro 3. I’m thinking of buying a new macbook but pro models are so expensive. I’m djing regurarly, bars, private venues, weddings. I was thinking of buying the new mb air 13.6 m2 8gb (2022) or mb air 15 m2 8gb (2023). The fact that the are fanless will have an impact after a few hours of playing or I will be fine?

thanks

M1 is more than enough mate. Non Pro, Non M2.

    I wasted money on M2.

I'd go for that new 15" Air having been in the booth many times with Danny Tenaglia who used a 15" MacBook Pro the screen size using Traktor is so nice compared to my 13" 2014 MacBook Pro (that I'm also looking to upgrade soon)

I just need to up the storage to 1TB internal which is £400 extra (joke) so I have plenty space as I'm sick of external drives except my time machine SSD backup of Course.

I have MacBook Air m2 and have done several gigs with zero issues. Air m2 is a super fast machine. If you can get at least 512 ssd and 16gb of RAM. 8 maybe enough, but with those juicy stems just down the track, you wanna have some headroom.

Thanks for all the answers!! So I won’t have a problem with the heat? Even if I play outside for 6-7 hours during the summer? Macbooks Air can handle that??

In shadow I assume? Or do you also want something that can handle direct sunlight?

I think most laptops will struggle in direct sunshine for too long. Like you normally would have some shade and you’ll be just fine. MacBook Air m2 is super quick and super light.I have done several gigs with it and it’s solid.

Thank you all! I believe I’d be fine with air M2 15’! No reason to buy Pro again… too damn expensive

I think the new 15" Air would be a great choice, especially considering I've been in the booth many times with Danny Tenaglia, who used a 15" MacBook Pro. The larger screen size when using Traktor is really nice compared to my current 13" 2014 MacBook Pro (which I'm also planning to upgrade soon).

The only thing I need to do is upgrade the internal storage to 1TB, which unfortunately comes with an extra £400 cost (a bit of a joke, right?). But it will give me plenty of space, and I'm tired of relying on external drives, except for my Time Machine SSD backup, of course.
