Slow loading times for Lores

Hi,

Lores is the only library I have that takes an absurd amount of time to load into Kontakt.

I am using Kontakt 6.8.0 on macOS 10.15.7 and have around 40 libraries by different producers. Lores is the only one that takes several minutes to load an instance.

The loading bar is quick to reach the end, but then the colored wheel starts spinning and it keeps me waiting for a huge amount of time before loading the library. It seems that it is looking for some file that does not find until it does find it.

I had quite some problem installing the library as well. I wanted to put it into an external SSD and when it finished downloading it claimed that there was no enough space (it needed 219 GB, even if the library is less than 80 GB). So I installed it manually clicking on the installer that was in my download folder. After successful installation, Native Access could not find Kontakt any longer, and I could not manage to relocate it. So I reinstalled Kontakt as well. Now everything works as before, besides Lores having these incredibly slow loading times. I tried with batch re-save, but to no avail... Is there anything I can do?

    What I have noticed, but it may be caused by Maschine 2, not Kontakt.... If I load new project, it starts loading (increasing RAM usage) before RAM used by previous project is released.... So, more RAM is used than necesesary, if RAM has been released before loading next project.

    Update: If I load it in Logic Pro X it loads fast but it makes a weird scratchy sound every time I press a key, together with the sound of the preset. After loading it in Logic Pro X, when I try to reload it in Reason 11 it loads fast the first time, but from the second time on it goes back to loading very slowly.

    Update of update. I when I erase the previous instrument by clicking on the "x" on the top right corner and then load Lores, it loads fast. The slow behavior only happens when I load Lores dragging it to replace the previous instrument. Quite odd, but at least there is a workaround. It would be nice to know why it behaves like this, though.

    Still it would be nice to know why this is the only library that keeps loading for an absurdly long amount of time when I drag it in the Kontakt area rather than double clicking. Anyone has any insight about that?

    How much RAM do you have? Lores is big. It could be related to RAM handling.

    I guess there is a difference though, in terms of RAM handling with large files, between clearing one instrument then loading another (ie using the X) and dragging one onto another already loaded. Even with 32 GB maybe?

    Well. The initial loaded memory for Lores is 1.15 GB with the default patch which is quite high.

    But the default patch for Prime Bass requires 1.02 GB of RAM, which is comparable and does not have this long loading time when I load it by dragging it rather than double clicking it.

    But, yes, Lores is the library that loads with the largest default RAM requirement. So it might be that. I wonder if it is possible to pre-allocate more RAM so that it stops behaving like that when I drag it.

    When you drag a library into Kontakt, it may trigger a file indexing process. Kontakt needs to scan and index the samples and other resources within the library to make them accessible for use. Depending on the size and complexity of the library, this indexing process can take some time. On the other hand, when you double-click a library, Kontakt may have already indexed it previously, resulting in a faster loading time.

    It might be. There is no way to avoid this when I drag it? (like, pre-allocating some RAM buffer?)
