Once an instrument is loaded, how can I switch presets from a list?

Hello,

I understand I can pick instruments and their presets from the Kontakt initial library browser view but once I've loaded the instrument, how can easily change presetns from a list without having to go from the start? I can see I can cycle through presents with the lef/right arrow buttons:

... and I'd have thought the down arrow on the left would give me a list of the instrument's presets but I get a blank gray box:

Many thanks in advance.

In your example you are looking at 'Info View' indicated by the little 'i' in the right hand corner. Clicking on the camera will reveal the 'Snapshot' header, which will contain variations of the instrument in the form of a snapshot - if they exist.

You can also drag any instrument from the old browser in the 'SidePane' and drop it on top of any instrument in the rack to replace it.

And @Uwe303 's option - which is using info view - will cycle through all instruments in that folder.

sorry I dont have an answer but I do have the same issue

however i think, the first screenshot you have posted has nothing to do with switching the instrument, i think its for switching between the different racks, Im a newbie tho so will wait for the experts.

When i click on the down arrow next the instrument name in your second screenshot, it says "instrument quick load is empty" , and I can't find an answer for this :(

Regarding "Quick Load" (that empty box in your screenshot), check out this Manual page:

You can switch between instruments from the same folder by clicking the arrow keys next to the camera icon.

Presets may be in your instrument somewhere (where is Harmonic Bass from? Ah, it's Hypha! In that case, see my earlier sentence).

Add Hypha (or any library) to your Quickload browser and you will be able to do what you requested

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the responses.

Sorry I'd circled the wrong arrows but it was those arrows I mean. It looks like to get what I'm after I need to use quick load but I thinkt he quick load feature is just kind like bookmarking/favourite.

I feel like I'm missing something or poorly communicating what I mean. So, I load an instrument, or rather preset I've chosen through that initial library/preset browser Kontakt shows me when I load an intstance in my DAW. I try this preset out, decide I just want to just switch to another preset without having to start this process again. What's the best way to do this? I just want to see a list of the presets and quickly swap out without having to delete the instrument and start again (ie: like the process for most synths).

    Thanks again

Ok then i don´t understand it, no matter how i load hypha up, i can use the two buttons i marked and switch through presets. And im having it not set to quickload.

As I said, if the library is in Quickload you can do just this

But what if you prefer not to use Quickload, like me. Then what?

You're way in the lead, no need for one-upmanship! 😋

Huh? I was responding directly to the OP and was not trying to ‘one up’ anyone else - not sure what gave that impression. The answer I gave addresses what they wanted, afaik that is the usual way to get a menu in that drop-down - I have no idea if there are others

It was a joke. We discussed the leaderboard many months ago if you recall.

I do use a half-built Quickload at times, I just find it easier to use my limited collection of instruments with the K6 Browser. More of a visual thing.

Yes, I can too (sorry I've confused this by marking up the wrong arrows in my initial post). But I'm asking how to view presets in a list once an instrument is loaded and switch out them.

Thanks - this pretty much is what i'm after. The slightly cumbersome process I was experiencing was that when I first load Kontakt, it shows that 'Browser' view then once the preset is loaded, it's not obvious how to quickly get back that list but using the 'Libraries' tab in the side pane (having searched the instrument) then just gives me the list i'm after. Thanks again to any suggestions of quick loading but agree with @Gee_Flat that this is not quite what i'm after. This seems to me a bookmarking feature rather than a general browser for presets.

The problem with Quickload is it has to be built and I'm too lazy, while knowing I have an instant option.

But while runnning Kontakt in minimized mode, Quickload can remain open at the bottom of the rack, rather than blocking the instrument view. Less "cumbersome" and offers a similar approach to the Libraries tab.

OK up to you, I was just going by what you asked for here with your image - that dropdown menu you are missing is the quick load browse menu - yes you are correct the quick load panel at the bottom does add bookmarks, but once added that dropdown arrow works as a proper preset loading/changing menu for instruments, and is no longer empty, which is what I thought you were asking for.

Gee_Flat is right that really this isn't an either/or thing, like them I use a hybrid approach, for libraries that have snapshots I use those, but not all libraries do have snapshots, some have instruments, Hypha being one, the Factory 2 library being another example, so for those I use the Quickload browser (not the Quickload panel, that is really just for adding libraries but it's the dropdown menu that is faster as in the screenshot I posted)
