Is 16 gb Ram enough for Komplete 14 Collectors Edition ?
Hello,
I have a MacBook pro 14 with:
Apple M2 PRO with 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine
16gb ram (Unified Memory)
512 gb SSD
Also have an external ssd harddrive, samsung T7 shield 4 TB were I will download kontakt to
Will this work fine or is it a must to have 32 gb ram ?
Will I have trouble with this setup ?
Thank you :)

I think you should be fine. I have an older Mac 8G Ram and i5 3.5 ghz and I have the standard 14. I think the biggest issue is storage. You have storage covered with your external. I don't foresee any issues

It depends on, what projects you intend to do.... If cinematic tracks with many classical instruments, you may run out of RAM very quickly even with moderate project....
I am not on Mac, so I do not have practical experience how memory swapping work for real time audio use case. Otherwise it is said, it works very well on AS Mac.

Thanks for answers, I love doing cinematic music so want to be able to do that

I think the heavier libraries like Lores may struggle

would Mac studio be better ? than you can get 64 gb ram and more power for same price as macbook pro ?

That’s what I have

So Mac Studio with:
64 gb ram
1 tb ssd or 512 ssd
Apple M2 Max with 12 Core CPU, 30 core GPU, 16-core neural engine
Will this be fine for cinematic music ?

I'm sure it would be but not cheap and you already have a good laptop so balance that against that fact that most libraries will run with 16Gb, it's only some of the more demanding ones like Lore and Fables that would probably benefit from more RAM (which you said you can add to your existing laptop). See how you get on with what you have anyway - don't rush into an expensive new purchase based on what you read here

IMHO, good idea is to try it first on your current setup, it might work for you. If it does not work, than you will have to search solution.....

I mean I have ordered a macbook pro 14, but I can still cancel the order and instead take the mac studio for same price but with much more power and 64 gb ram ?
so its more about if i should pick laptop or the studio

I see - personally unless portability is a need (eg for performance) then I’d go for the Studio (which is why I did) - but only you can decide what is best for your needs
Of course you’ll also need a monitor

I have this monitor :
HP 34 E344C VA Curved 21:9
guess it Will work with Mac studio ?
