Hi

I'm trying to play a particular song (Heroes/Bowie) in chord mode on my mk3.

The song in question is in D.

I can't find the corresponding chords in any form on my mk3.

Any advice appreciated?

RW

    Hello,

i would download a midi file and load it up, it´s not very likely that you´ll find the exact chords in a chord set, unfortunately maschine does not allow to create user chord sets. For stuff like that a keyboard like the a49 is maybe better.

AFAIK, the groups save keyboard mode settings of which the chords mode is a part.

Set up two identical sounds in separate groups and start/configure keyboard mode in both groups so the chords are available. While playing, switch groups with the group buttons

Are you sure you are in the right key? The song uses the D mixolydian mode, which corresponds to the key of G major. Heroes doesn't use any advanced chords, so you should be able to play it as long as you make sure you have set the mode to D mixolydian instead of D major.

In that case, setting the scale to mixolydian and chords to a triad instead of chord sets should do the trick also

It's in D but it's in G? This music stuff is so confusing!

The chords (if i got them right) fit in a bunch of scales/keys/modes, any of them can used in Maschine to both play manually or with 1 finger in Chord Mode 1-3-5 (since it knows the Scale it adds the 3rd and 5th degrees automatically).

The less Chords a song has the more keys/scales it can fit... Imagine a 2 chord only song, it fits with tons of stuff... At least in terms of playing the chords. Solos, melodies, etc might fall into specific scales / keys.
