I cannot configure the sound to work for Maschine+ and PC at the same time
Hi Everyone, I bought recently a Maschine+ and I wanted to starting using it with my computer, and I realised that it is not as easy as plug and play as I thought.
I have Wasapi Shared Mode on, but the maschine+ doesn't make any sound even if on the software Maschine 2 is visible the sound wave being triggered.
If I move to ASIO the Maschine+ works, but I lose completely the sound of my PC.
I am not much interested ATM at the problem of the latency, I just want to have both systems working at the same time. I am just someone that is learning to make music from 0 and all this audio setup is quite overwhelming, because I don't see the point of such complexity.
I don't have any other options to select any other kind of input or output. Maschine+ is setup as Controller.
What should I do?

By “but I lose completely the sound of my PC” you mean the built in speakers? And the sounds produced by Maschine software?
In this case, it is more than normal. Once you go into the audio settings, you chose which audio interface will be used (the computer internal one or Maschine+ built in). The one you chose will be the one working.
If you want a program to play its audio from more than an audio interface, I’m afraid it is not possible (out of curiosity: why even wanting it?)
What you can do is, e.g., having Maschine audio from its internal audio interface but windows audio (e.g. YouTube) out of computer speakers. But for doing this, the setup must be done in Maschine software settings for its audio side (chosing Maschine+ as Device) and windows settings (chosing computer internal audio interface) for the YouTube audio.
In any case: in your situation you see the audio been triggered but you don’t ear sound because the routing is not set up correctly (2nd screenshot): in the Output section I can see Out 1L and 1R set to “Unplugged”. You must chose there Speakers L and Speakers R. Or plug a set of external speakers to the audio jack of the computer)
BTW: a suggestion: if you can, avoid WASAPI drivers. Maybe install something free like Asio4all, even suggested by NI itself. Downloadable here)

Yeah I mean that if I have an audio playing that is not from the maschine software (like winamp or youtube) it is muted. I would like to have them both (Maschine and Computer audio), so that I can follow tutorials, and play with the instrument. The exclusivity of one or the other is the issue for me, I don't know if there is a way where I could play both.

Sorry , I do not own the product in question (Maschine) so I do not have the ability to go through settings in my end..
In general , however then what you experience is quite normal , that is that some music programs kill audio on all other Windows programs when running. Maybe you can solve the problem by choosing a built in Windows sound driver other than ASIO. There do however also exist another type of problem which is related to how Windows works and/or how some manufactures make their software or drivers. And sometimes this can result in that devices in Windows appear in a rather screwed up way , which you will not discover until you start having problems of your own.. I am not saying that this is the case with Native Instruments , on the contrary and no need to make a problem if there is none..
What you most basically needs to do is to choose the right input and output for everything (choosing a "Windows Audio" Windows driver and the proper soundcard device part) and then you look in mixer settings and sound card settings and in device settings (point 7 on following page) to see if you think that right , some times then the problem with working with device settings in Windows is the need to set default device which sometimes is switched. Generally you will need an understanding of your soundcard devices and how e.g. Windows mixer and other soundcard settings works. Incidentally then e.g. RealTek audio also has it's own settings app that sometimes must be downloaded and installed to get access to some settings. but I am sorry I can only offer you general assistance here. If you are not experienced enough then maybe get someone more experienced in real life help you check/go through settings ? :
Also try to browse the settings :https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-sound-or-audio-problems-in-windows-73025246-b61c-40fb-671a-2535c7cd56c8

I am a web designer, so I dabble in tech, it is clear that this is my first time dealing with advanced configuration of audio settings, so I am quite surprised of the intricacy of the situation. Yeah I already checked about what was on my PC about setup of audio settings, and looking at the audio options (which there weren't many). I probably need some extra software tools to deal with all this.
It must be for sure something related with dealing with audio drivers.

Ok thx LostInFoundation at the end I didn't see your edited answer. Yeah, it was that the problem. I thought that it was reading BOTH the values, but I had to remove one so that I could hear the once that were plugged. Thx!

Ok. Is it working now? Maschine software set to use M+ audio interface producing audio from M+ and windows set to use its internal audio interface producing audio from computer speakers?
(BTW: this is why I don’t like to edit posts…people lose informations added…but when I dare to post 2 times in a row, I am THE DEVIL…😶)

Sometimes our logic fails , sometimes we lack the right software , sometimes what we want can't be done because it's not how things work - and we don't know that... I present situation, which by the way to me sounds like you want to play Youtube videos and then finger-drum along to those, I wouldn't know what problem you are facing. But let me give you an example : I recently experienced a sound problem on a newly assembled brand new Windows box with Windows 11 and while Windows had installed all drivers then there were a sound problem getting sound to front panel audio. And Windows apparently had not by itself installed the app native to the soundcard settings (Realtek HD Audio Manager / Realtek Audio Console Application) (not a native Windows app) so I had to locate a driver installation that contained the app to be able to do the setting. Even worse is that even when I have the same app on my own PC then it doesn't pop up on Windows search , though it now runs in tray... What I am aiming at here is not that it necessarily is that app you need , maybe , maybe not. But more that if there is something that you need to learn or download then you will not know before you have a problem that will prompt you to look deeper . And that would include digging in both Driver type / Driver settings / diverse mixer / app settings / setup as well as in Windows sound settings... Easiest though is asking someone more experienced you know that has direct access to your PC while trying to assist..

That was a potential scenario about finger drumming that I might want to try in the future. For the moment really, I have 0 experience in music. But I love to figure it out and learn. Maschine it is the most accessible music making for me, than learn a real instrument. (And sincerely Maschine looks like a great instrument).
If I was complaining, it was more about frustration, because I am burning out my whole Saturday morning dealing with this, instead of being swimming at the beach eheheh Weekend are for relaxing! :D
And as well I would love to learn and understand more.

Yeah , most of us hate to spend hours with no end trying to solve some computer related problems and yet we find ourselves slaving away at the keyboards in virtual communications with others trying to assist them also ! Oh ! , reminds me , I gotta go shopping and spend some more of them money that I don't have..
I hope that you get swimming and enjoy yourself (take care) as well as I hope that you get your audio problem fixed also ! 🙂
