How can I assign different lines in to separate groups

Hi all,

I have been looking for the solution for weeks! Is there one?

I have a machine mikro mk3 set up for live performing. I have a DI with 2 lines in; guitar and mic. Set up my groups Group 1: drumkit, Group 2: guitar, Group 3 mic.

In the recording area, I select loop and record to pattern.

Everything works fine, but I have to manually switch back and forth on my laptop between lines in (1 L and 1 R) because when I change it in 1 Group, it changes for all groups. So I'll record guitar in the guitar group and switch to mic group but unfortunately still record guitar there :(

I want to be able to operate only from my maschine and so either have a way to permanently assign my 2 lines in to my 2 groups or find a way to change this using controller only. I mean, even a keyboard shortcut would be bliss at this point.

Any help would be much appreciated.

On a other note, can I somehow swap the function of the group button with the step button. Life would be something easier when I could select a group with 1 hand :😀

The idea of a "sampler" in maschine is made up of two pieces. You have the sampler module that plays samples. Load as many of those as you want.

You also have the sample recorder. There's just one of those. It records and then loads into a sampler module (i.e. the player). There is tight integration between the two; but they are different entities.

This remains on the same input throughout all the groups

It's not part of a group or sound slot. The recording function is it's own little thing.

I don't think you can do it on groups, only to sounds. Just follow the arrows....

However, if you have 4 groups with 4 sounds each, then:

-put sound 1 of group 1 + sound 1 of group 2 + sound 1 of group 3 + sound 1 of group 4 on Input 1+2

-put sound 2 of group 1 + sound 2 of group 2 + sound 2 of group 3 + sound 2 of group 4 on Input 3+4

-put sound 3 of group 1 + sound 3 of group 2 + sound 3 of group 3 + sound 3 of group 4 on Input 5+6

-put sound 4 of group 1 + sound 4 of group 2 + sound 4 of group 3 + sound 4 of group 4 on Input 7+8

it is pretty much the same with what you want to do. :-)

Thanks for your swift reply. I'm not sure if this is what I meant, I know how to select the different lines in for each sound, am I missing some crucial step here? What I meant was the following: see arrow in picture. This remains on the same input throughout all the groups when I switch groups on my controller. No matter how I set up the input for the sound or groups....I have to adjust it manually everytime I go to another group. Not handy in Live performance

ok, naive question, but, are all your input channels activated in the audio properties?

Hi there,

Yes, bht I have only 2 line in, focusrite scarlet 2[2

I now have my guitar in group A, sound 1 and selected input 1L

Mic in group A, sound 2 with reverb effect and selected input 1R

Then my recording is in group B, set it to internal, Group A

So now when I hit the loop button, everything I do on both lines is recorded. Which works but have to be mindful about the overlap.

Before I used bos rc500 with 2 diff input. So easy to select which one to loop. Why did I sell that thingy! Lol

But if you only have just 2 inputs, then why you need different groups with different line in?

In fact you do not even have two inputs but just one! One stereo input L+R... that's Focusrite Scarlet.

So how you expect to see a second input anywhere since you only have one?

The only thing you might be able to do is to use mono configuration instead of stereo (if possible)
