MacOS: Native Access 2 Default Application location broken?

I've installed NA2 on my Mac (MacOS 13.3.1(a)). When I go into NA's preferences and check File Management, I see that the default file location is /Applications/Native Instruments. However, there is a ❗️displayed. If I change the default simply to /Applications, this clears out the ❗️and NI, Reaktor, Kontakt, etc. all seem to install with no issue.

My question: Is the default location of applications/Native Instruments a bug? By changing it to simply /Applications, will this potentially cause errors when those apps need updating?

(Apologies if this has been asked/answered previously but I couldn't find anything. Also, I'm brand new to the NI ecosystem)

    Hey! We're aware of this bug here, but it's just a visual bug. If you click browse and save the location again without changing anything, does that remove the icon?

    It's a known bug. To fix it:

    • Rename the "Native Instruments" folder in /Applications to "_Native Instruments"
    • Create a new folder in /Applications called "Native Instruments"
    • Move the contents of "_Native Instruments" back into "Native Instruments"
    • Delete the now empty "_Native Instruments" folder.

    That should fix the red ! in Native Access

    Hello,

    as far as I understand the standard location is "Macintosh HD > Applications > Native Instruments" - the "native instruments" folder should be created while first installation. You could have create the folder manually, then it should have worked. You can have a look into the applications folder, you simply have now all the products there instead of all into the native instruments sub folder, it shouldn't be a problem.

    That's what's puzzling. The install of NA2 did create the directory and there are files installed there - NTKDaemon, Controller Editor, Documentation, etc. I'm just puzzled why that location appears as an error in the NA preferences. If I manually point it back to /applications the error goes away.

    Wow that is strange, could it be some mac rights or permission issue? I'm not a Mac user myself so I can't really help you further. But i guess someone else with Mac will help.     Browsing, and checking the same location doesn't remove the icon. As long as it's just a UI bug, I can live with it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything or that it could lead to an issue for updates, etc.

    Just fyi... NA updated to 3.5 today but this is still broken. I'm not a coder but this seems like it would be a relatively easy fix since NA has been granted full access to my disk. Running MacOS Ventura 13.4.1 (c)

    Yep. Still broken in NA 3.5.2 and MacOS 13.5.2.

    NA 3.7.0. Still the same. Wasted an hour to find this post. Embarrassing. Makes you wonder if Native Instruments is in trouble?

    Yeah - it’s still an issue. To be fair though, I’ve not run into any issues (that I’m aware of). However, it seems like a trivial bug and would be an easy fix*.
