Coming up next for MASCHINE and MASCHINE+

Still not anywhere near v3? The software is so clunky and outdated now, let alone the constant freezing/crashing and the pesky AI error. I bought the MPC one primarily so that I could sketch beats without having to open Maschine, which is a real shame as it was my go to and had the potential for greatness. It seems like all the NI budget goes on development of new sound packs and add ons and not a lot of it goes into the Maschine software. I hope this changes as running it alongside my DAW for sketches and sample chops has been a great way to work for a while now.

I don't understand. What about it is clunky? I think it levels up my workflow. Whenever I realize I need to do something in Reaper I immediately start wondering how I can incorporate more of Maschine in that project. It does not do everything. Neither does Reaper and that DAW is awesome for what it aims to do. What would an up-to-date or even futuristic Maschine 3 look like or feel like to you?

"Hey! Can we finally get some better way of recording mutes and solo's, and edit our automation?? After years and years of asking? Please, please, pretty please?"
"Here, look! A bird! Oh no, it's auto sampling!"
(kidding a little, very nice to get new features, but on a serious note also a little intrigued what the real problem is with picking up those long requested requests?)

In programming big systems is many times easier to create new completely separated functionality than modifying existing code. Some of the code might be 10 years old and written by people that is no longer in the company and is a big effort to understand it an modify it, plus it can introduce new bugs on functionality that was already bug free.
I bet there is a little bit of this happening in the Machine plus development.
From the user point of view I much prefer to see improvements on the existing workflows rather than new functionality.

I think Machine software has come a long way and I'm happy with it. That being said, I would like to see more investment in the actual software as opposed to giving me access to more sounds. I'm like, how many samples and loops do you need to make a hit record. It's overkill on the sounds already.
I would like to see NI invest in making certain processes easier and more intuitive so my workflow is easy, which is what they have been doing. But I need more of that and less fluff about more sounds.
I hope Komplete 14 has some new an exciting features besides just more content. It's been unchanged for a while.

Can't decide what I am most excited about, the stability improvement or the auto sampler!!!!!

Welp that's underwhelming.

Hey guys!
I have an mpc one and tbh it’s been a difficult road trying to make music on the thing because in my opinion it’s very technical. When I owned a MK1 MK2 it only took me a month to get the workflow to a T! I wanted to ask if M+ is great to work on without needing a freaking Bible to learn off to make a simple beat. I’ve had my MPC Akai One for a few months now and I’ve almost given up it’s too damn technical for me

Adhering to the laptop should be optional by 2022 and without a compromise.
What do you think if NI spin-off Maschine+ line (and any future Maschine products) away from the laptop to go just hardware. It would have it's own Maschine "certified" expansion packs, exclusive features and all. They can distill technologies from Traktor and other products into this line of hardware. Got to start somewhere.

I was in exactly the same situation as you, I liked the mpc one, but I find its workflow more complicated, I was wasting a lot of time, since I have the Maschine plus, I'm delighted, in the end in a month you will have mastered it perfectly, its workflow is much easier to understand.

I quite agree with that, but the extensions do not cause a problem, it is especially the internal instruments that consume more resources

Really nice to get a glimpse into what’s happening at NI. Thanks @Matt_NI for going through the work to share this with us. It’s a step in the right direction for sure.

tbh the ease of workflow can’t even be compared. On the M+ (or m2 sw) it’s literally right in front of your nose/fingertips. No technical knowledge needed. You load the sounds you want and start playing around. The beauty of it is that you can record so many different patterns for every group that you will never lose an idea. Record to pattern 1 in group a, start next pattern and record the next idea or progression, or just duplicate pattern 1 and keep adding elements to your foundation easier than making a pot of coffee. There is nothing that can be compared to M+ when it comes to jamming, playing around, recording, and so on. You’d have to have an IQ lower than a goldfish to actually fail getting started and coming in to flow pretty quickly. NI really spoiled us in ease of workflow and M2 or M+ doesn’t get the cred it deserves in how “workflow friendly” it is. Less programming and more music creating. Razor sharp focus im the creating process rather than having to know a ton of technical stuff about the system to actually create and record anything. It’s almost ridiculous how hands on it is.
getting to a creative state shouldn’t be an advanced process. And with M+ it’s definitely not. However it’s a very complex ecosystem under the hood but it doesn’t demand of you do be a software coder to understand it and make music on it!!

Can someone tell me in very simple terms what exactly is auto sampling and why is that important?

Hi Djadidal. In hindsight, I do appreciate the MK 3 adherence to patterns which is better in my view that "takes "on Logic Pro. However, it took me about 2 months when I first started with Maschine to understand the way patterns and scenes work because i spent my entire life working on DAWs that were linear as opposed to modular. Now that I'm use Maschine I do agree it's ingenious. There weren't as many U tube videos explaining things like we have today.
