S4 mk3 lag with Monterey
Hi everyone
i recently updated to Mac OS monterey. When I connect my s4 mk3 ans start scrolling it lags the software . When the s4 is disconnected and am using manually on the laptop there is no lagging . Initially Monterey had compatibility issues with the s4 . Native instruments says it’s resolved . my s4 works perfectly on my other laptop which is running big sur
any help would be appreciated

There have been reported issues when connecting external hds after upgrading to Monterey. I have the M1 with Big Sur and won't upgrade yet until my video editing tools get the ok.
You can try to first aid the hard drive via disk utilities and see if that helps.

Hi Kaiwan it’s a 2015 13 inch MacBook Pro music is reading off external hard drive

im sure many ppl use external hard drives knowing regular macs don’t have big storage . I hope more ppl come out with some feedback . I’m surprised if that’s the case more are not complaining .

I use external drives to store 4k and 6k videos and drives that store .cda/aiff files from cds that I ripped. People are complaining...to Apple.

Could be both. I learned about the external hd issue from video editing groups.

I'm also seeing significant lag and performance hogging when using the S4 MK3 with OSX Monterey (Macbook Pro 15inch 2016).
When using the S4, I'm getting huge processor hog. Latency issues with Link (or using Generic MIDI Outputs to synch with other NI Mixers or Maschine Studio).
The S8 (and even the S4 Mk1) perform better, but I'm still glitching even with dropping down to 44.1 and increasing buffers to 512!.
