just few emoji?…………I guess worth waiting.
The people at AT already know very well how to postpone things in Traktor language 🙄 I think we'll be waiting a long time before we have a usable version of that neatly integrated into Traktor, and many other things that need really to be done will probably fall by the wayside...
You aware that AlphaTheta have pulled the firmware update for the CDJ3000 because it's causing problems with wiping USB sticks?
I'd rather NI test it properly before releasing the update.
No, it does not wipe anything.
Some DJs be using Rekordbox 5, which uses the old USB system. Then at some point they put their USB into a modern Rekordbox and declined the migration to new Device Library Plus.
That results in an empty device library plus.
When you now insert that USB into a updated CDJ it checks for a device library plus, which there is, but it's empty. So nothing shows up.
If you take that same USB, put it into a Rekordbox 7, you can with a single click start the migration and it should all come back.
So you are saying that AlphaTheta haven't pulled the firmware and recommended users to downgrade?
https://alphatheta.com/en/information/important-notice-cdj-3000-firmware-ver330/
Nope, I did not say that.
But if there is anything I said that is wrong, I will edit my text and apologize.
Bug right from the start- After updating and starting 4.4.0 its not asking to keep the settings and library from the old version. its starting from scratch so you have to manually copy your old user folder to the new one. No good sign.
Quantity before quality - is this the result of the survey or what thats the praised big update of the year? yeah
I'm not upset NI, I'm just disappointed.
I find it very, very hard to believe that touring radio DJs such as Jaguar Bingham (easily 5+ gigs a month) haven't updated to Rekordbox 6 or 7 or haven't formatted their USB sticks in over five years. These same DJs carry 2-3 backups as well.
The problem is much bigger than this.
Here Mojaxxx explains it in more details. A lot of details just pres "no" to the migration and as a results they have an empty plus library, which was never a problem before as CDJs only read the old one:
Maybe…
but are these really the “important changes”? … or the only interesting feature, the reason people bought it?
For me, it's still true: Form follows function. Blinkblink might be nice to have, but that's about it.
This edition with the MX2, TraktorPlay and soon OneLibrary is clearly all about increasing the user base of Traktor. With fresh users, particularly those just starting their DJ journey, bling is very important.
For longtime Traktor users, any future progress is contingent on increasing the user base and revenue first. Of course that is not a guarantee, but it's a necessary condition.
I could write a page long essay about what i am missing. Instead i am looking forward to what may come in better spirits than before. :)
Hey everyone, we understand that, you might not see the value of Traktor Play for your cases. One good thing for hardcore Traktor users is that a lot of code modernising has been necessary and it helps current and future development and bug fixes, which in the en will benefit all. It also means more collaboration with third party hardware in the future.
Things have been quiet on Traktor land for the previous year, lots of things are coming through, in a lot of different directions. We'll also try to improve communication on the forum in both directions. I'm not an expert on Traktor so I'll rely on my fellow supporters, will have regular meetings with the Traktor teams to bring up topics, bugs and where they're at, feature requests, etc…I'll also might some help of all of you experts and moderators

@Jeremy_NI : This is my favourite news this fall! :)
I wish everyone in the dj universe understood how hideous the 2 mainstream pieces of software are. Im not talking about Serato, DeeJay or VirtualDJ, which TBH Im not too familiar with. But the Engine and Rekordbox environments are a joke, sincerely. I use both. And it is not only frustrating but infuriating. It is a shameful experience to have to resort to that, and to have to deal with crappy pieces of software for your work. And I only use them for export (usb) purposes.
The only reason I don't use Traktor for performance anymore is because they owe us that bit of stability. Just go ahead and acknowledge the fact that it will crash on you, and we will be closer to finding a fix. This has been going on for far too long.
In the meantime, having to deal with platforms that are honestly waaay behind Traktor just to be able to export to USBs feels like going back to the stone age. These apps cannot be any more mediocre. I have dealt with issues, gone back and forth with support, and just ended hating everything about them. All I really know is that they don't really care about us. Ta da.
So Pleasse, Please, for once, let me, let me, get what I want. I've never dreamed in a long time. Seems the life I've had, can make a good man, turn bad. So please, please, please. Get your act together, cause yours is the best act. And let me, get what I want.
Release a rock solid and stable Traktor version, and we will take it from there. Lifelong ambassadors. Specially now with the promise of mainstream integration. Get your act together and we will follow. Tell everyone about it.
I talk with RB and Engine DJs all the time and they have no idea about what theyre missing. No freaking idea about the joy of using Traktor as your music backbone. For them, the apps are a way of life, which in turn is as cumbersome and uncomfortable as going to the gym in a full suit and tie. You might look kinda fine, but everything about the performance is as limited and clumsy as it gets.
I have to acknowledge that I am still using RB 6 in its latest form, cause the 7 version is no better. Not yet. I do have it installed and updated on another computer and might switch to it eventually, cause 6 is crap. But so far, 7 has been beta software. I know that 7xxx is quite far along now, but just having to say that it might be usable by now is a testament to how horrible this software is.
I work with that stuff every week and the worst part of my experience is having to open Engine or RB on my computer to try to export stuff. They don't ever fail in the sense of being constant purveyors of frustration. At least that, they deliver. Frustration.
But things go on and I keep using these 3 platforms. Traktor is a joy for prep and organization. And perhaps casual performance. Not professional work. That won't fly for now. I know. I've been gettin these dreadful hangs, throughout different OS and TR versions. S4 MK3 being the prize winner for live set disasters. It sits with me, hoping for some love from the software side of things.
Can't care less for new features, as long as we get a rock solid product.
If the folks here are watching, Im on your team. And will be for the forseeable future. But please, let me, for once in my life, let me, get what I want.
