Now you're about to release the third update to Maschine, are you going to work on Komplete Kontrol?

Right now, I'm doing an NKS pack for Kontrast by Dawesome. With luck, it'll be done today.

I do more updates for the KK ecosystem, along with other community members than Native instruments does.

This is the final NKS pack I will do, until basic feature requests, and missing features have been addressed.

We've been waiting years, and I can't wait any longer. I've lost the will.

Chris is currently the Product Owner for Maschine, Komplete Kontrol SW, Kontrol HW, and some other stuff. There are a lot of high priority topics happening in parallel tbh and he's stretched very thin so please be kind. I'm an engineer / tech lead for the Kontrol HW side, and just lurking on the forum out of my own personal interest when I have time. In general most NI engineers are not active on the forum.

As mentioned, a KK update is definitely on the table after the next Maschine update. I hope it will include a few quality of life improvements, but the scope of that release has not been defined yet, so nothing further I can share at this point sorry. Unfortunately there's no dedicated team for KK so it does tend to take a back seat to Maschine.

Hopefully the Kontrol Mk3 firmware v2.0 my team recently released reduces your dependency on KK to some extent.

It certainly is well past time for some Komplete Kontrol love - the firmware has had some great attention but the app itself is lagging behind even what you can do with the MIDI editor now

And with that (factory library for Kontrast in the user library), I am done.

If nothing changes, at least I did Equator 2's nearly 3,000 presets twice once. I do hope NI see the value of the community they have and stop placing Komplete Kontrol SW at the bottom of the list, but that's it from me until that changes.

I am forever hopeful, but I've got other things to do instead of continuously waiting. I'll hang around here for a bit. I'll keep my NKS packs online until the end of this year (I'm paying for Dropbox just to store this), but I would encourage anyone to download anything of mine before then.

I don't expect an answer from NI, so you can find me on the discord server if anyone needs anything.

No, he is not AI and to most of us with past experience it makes 100% sense.

@Vagus would not hold your breath. Seems the new lead for KK is "old school" NI and is basically aa ghost on all issues and communications, like being back in the mid 2000s where we have zero communication again. I know they migrated both Maschine and KK teams into one and they can only (barely it seems) work on one application at a time and TBH, Maschine needed a lot of work to bring that up to standard… Sadly KK slipped the other way.

I'm not on the team that maintains KK, but we do work closely together. They are aware of this backlog of Browser issues and do hope to address some of them after the next Maschine update is out. I would also love to see the issues fixed tbh, and will continue to advocate for them but it's not going to happen overnight.

I think @Chris_NI is driving the bus but hasn’t told anyone which way it’s going, the route it will take, or how long the journey will be

It does if you are using the right DAW, in particular the Bitwig implementation combined with community created remote controls has opened up a lot of possibilities- especially for control of fx which Komplete Kontrol is currently pretty useless for. However these solutions also tie users to a DAW - remote controls created in Bitwig only work in Bitwig - whereas the huge advantage of KK is its universality - I can use the same template in any DAW that can load KK. So it’s more a compliment to KK for me rather than making KK less needed.

100% feel your pain man, we have discussed all this a few times in private, many may have noted my releases are slowing down quite a bit as I too have been reconsidering and planning for the future. I really love doing this work and speaking with people who it really helps, I have met a lot of great people both here on the forums and direct via emails, users and developers from all over the world and gained a LOT of insight, that is the highlight of my time and the honest reason I am still here but reality is, bills need to be paid and time is a finite resource and I cannot cut back on sleep much more than I do already.

I've felt very disappointed in the overall lack of action over the years having been quite a fan and a pretty invested user for over a decade it has now become pointless to carry on any hope for improvements, there appears to be a serious lack of resources to maintain the products they want, too many pies and not enough fingers from my POV.

Maybe if I see some actual axe grinding on some of the points raised by users it would change my mind but for the last 3 years since KK V3 dropped, it has simply been OS compatibility updates, finishing off adding in features that should have been there on release and, well, nothing of any value. Based on my own metrics and the lack of attention for such a new version and product line, it really seems the whole Komplete Kontrol range is on the decline. It's barely a footnote on any threads these days I read and there are developers even now I contact that are seriously like "What is NKS"? When long standing experienced users start walking away due to frustration that is a concern.

Good luck in your future endeavours, I don't think much will change to keep us around much longer TBH.
