Can't remove 'repair' no matter what I do

Hello all,

I started off by installing all programmes and instruments from native access, but half through I noticed I have not got enough space on my hard drive. So I had to uninstall all the that has been installed, bearing in mind I had no other location or hard drive on my Laptop just the 'C' drive. No matter what I do now, even after deleting files and signing out, and reinstalling Native access it will not repair Kontakt or agree to move location. When I reinstall it, it then goes back to C drive location and will not let me relocate.

Please any help is welcomed.

If referring to content of download folder then if you reboot computer after any installation then it generally should be safe to delete any temporary files after the reboot , including what remains in the N.A. Download destination folder.

Also now you also have the opportunity to download directly from the Account downloads page , an option that people did not have until recently. So there ought generally be no need to save downloaded installers unless you want to always have them ready on drive , and let's face it , things gets updated so for how long a given installer remains relevant and up to date is always unknown…

It's unclear if you set another path for content installation in Native Access → Preferences→ File management . Also then you are not supposed to re-locate Applications (e.g. Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol) or plugins (all that you should leave at it's default location at the system drive) , you are only supposed to set another location for 'Content' (e.g. Kontakt libraries and expansions) and 'Download'.

So if you need space then uninstall or relocate Libraries and expansions.

As a matter of principle then if you can not relocate then usually it's because there is something left at the old location. Again , you should install Kontakt to it's default location on the system drive but if you need to re-install it then uninstall it and remove all traces from it on drive and then also run the NI reg tool and remove it from the list if there , and then also if there delete the product name file from C:\Users\Public\Documents\NativeInstruments\installed_products . If you removed all the trace files from the hard drive and you still have problems then you might have to delete some N.A. files also.

Thanks for the response. Sorry i left out some important info. It does allow me to reinstall to drive 'c', but when I click on repair to change to locate, it says new locate as in my external drive is not recognised. I just used the Ni reg tool still no luck there.

You do not mention what it is that you are trying to 'relocate' , but I am not sure if you can 'relocate' applications or plugins. As written earlier then you should install Applications and plugins to their default location on the system drive , but if you still are trying to move Kontakt off the system drive then you need to uninstall the app and then change the file management install location in Native Access and then re-install app to the new location set. But you are advised to not do that. In any case then relocation problems are usually due to left overs of the old location install.

Honestly in the end I had to reinstall Windows and start from scratch. When i uninstall now i dont see repair anymore. Quick question. Can I delete all the files after installation in the download location in Native access without affecting the installed files.

Clearing stuck installation/stuck downloads can be less or more problematic depending on the particular situations.

The following is an example of advice received from Support in connection with a stuck download :

I contacted the Support Team, and here's how the problem got solved:

I had to uninstall Native Access.
I was then advised to delete"C:\Users\Public\Documents\NativeInstruments\NTK\install.json", AND kill the "NTKDaemonService".
The last step wouldn't complete until I rebooted the machine.
Then I re-installed NA, and then installed … that I had downloaded

To clear a stuck download then I can personally suggest :

Exit N.A:

Uninstall N.A.

Delete the Native Access folder from %AppData%\Native Instruments\

delete"C:\Users\Public\Documents\NativeInstruments\NTK\install.json"

Remove product in the NI reg tool list if there

Delete content from your chosen download folder

AND kill the "NTKDaemonService" (Might require a reboot))

Reboot PC

Then download and install as an Admin latest version of Native Access for your OS

Then try download and installing product again

An older version of Previews should also be for download here (will still require you to clear stuck download as described above) :

Ok i think im all good now. Preview installed after i deleted some flies for space on the hard drive. Because my content and my downloads are in different locations, even tho on same drive, native access has not delete the download files, even after all installs and restarting the computer. I may have to delete manually

Great that things are now working for you.

Yes , you always need to keep an eye on both Temp space on system drive , and space on Download location and space on Content drive.
