    Mark Gane's guitar solo for "Come Out and Dance" is utterly ground breaking. It is completely unexpected and slithers and slides around and fully explores the open spaces in the song.

    Neal Schon "Who's Cryin' Now" solo has always been a favorite of mine. The combination of memorable melodic lines with incredible chops to rip through the same solo is unbelievable. I also happened to be at this show when it was taped in Houston many years ago, so kind of special for me.

    Guns n' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle

    The most memorable guitar solo(s) for me are from Guns n' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle": the first record I discovered of them, "Appetite for Destruction", first track, probably the first time I've listened to it on my first ever good stereo system at home when I was 16. What an experience of the senses, if you had never listened to music on a good system before. Slash has many short solos in the song, but the one I associate the song with is the one starting 2:52

    I’m late to the game here, my top 5 choices have already been posted a few times. For that, I’ll just share this for entertainment value. It’s hard to watch now given the nonsense, “just do anything fun” moves that Vai/Sheehan act out, but I loved this video when it came out.     I'm sure many will choose this solo. Elliott Randall's amazing one-take solo in Steely Dan's "Reelin' in the Years". The version of that solo here is Elliot Randall with friends recorded many years later. It's still amazing.

    For me, the most iconic solo would be from Allan Holdsworth. It is from UK’s song “In the Dead of Night” and runs from approx 3.10 to 4.30. While this studio version is great, i think Allan was always best playing live. I was lucky enough to see him play numerous times over the years. He was a true master of the guitar, and sadly missed.
