How does Kontakt scan for newly installed plugin?

I've run Kontakt for ages.

I use it every day.

I have just downloaded Deep Matter from Native Access, but I forget how to point Kontakt to it.

It seems NI's marketing dept don't have an SEO specialist, as finding this basic info is harder than it should be. Not quite as fustrating as Akai, but close.

So, I would be much appreciative if anyone could please tell me, how does Kontakt 'see' downloaded instruments?

I read that it can be done by tapping 'File' in Kontakt. THere is no option there for me.

I am using Kontakt 7.

When I look at the path in native Access, it looks like this:

Deep Matter: Users / Shared / Deep Matter Library

Noire: users / my name/ / Documents / Noire Library

So I know they are in different locations. I just can't figure out why Kontakt can 'see' Noire and not Deep Matter

You need Kontakt 8 and then you need to look at the right place.. Otherwise then as Vinark writes then Deep Matter was apparently not meant as a Kontakt expansion as such.

This is not completely wrong but is lacking some additional - and important - detail. As the product info states for Deep Matter, like with any expansions that include samples and loops:

Please note: Loops and Samples from Expansions are now accessible in the Kontakt 8 and Kontakt 8 Player browser and can be loaded directly into the Leap sampler.

so the ‘conflicting’ information is more a consequence of this expansion having content for many NI instruments including Battery and Maschine as well as Kontakt 8, and it looks like also Monark (a Reaktor ensemble) and Massive.

The difference from Noire though is that Noire is just for Kontakt and is loaded from the Kontakt Library browser, whearas loops and samples are loaded from the Loops and one shots browser, so appear in different places in Kontakt 8.

I would go further. There are some characters around (I haven't yet seen any signs of remorse from our friend), but I think a lot of it is down to the new structure of the forum. This system of "plusses" and "minuses" together with these spurious "titles" (which rather reminds me of school when I was ten years old) frequently creates the impression that contributors giving advice are official NI support to which customers are entitled, rather than fellow-pioneers.

People often go to some trouble to try to help, creating pictures or even writing simple scripts (I've stopped doing this now), but get no feedback, so they don't know if they have been wasting their time. I haven't been able to find any forum rules/guidelines (unusual?) but if there were some, perhaps members could be encouraged to provide the courtesy of a response to attempts to help them, even if they aren't successful.

To get an over view then click the 'Categories' at interface/page top e.g. on the page that you are now. Then in the 'Categories' you will find a sub-section 'Welcome' in which is the 'Community Code of Conduct - Please read before posting' .

Explaining this to you then I realize that I think that it appears as being somewhat convoluted.. 🤔 , but the 'Welcome' is also listed in the links list on the right side of (almost) page top in the 'Categories' list there.

I personally was *very much* against the 'rating' system from the very start and warned that it (so very obviously) would be abused.
