Massive both comes as standalone and VST and VST3 .

So as BJQ1972 says then you should be able to open it as standalone and while doing that then setup it's audio and Midi. Then afterwards when you open in Ableton Live then id there is an error then please tell if you are using the VST or the VST3 and what is the exact error (e.g. screenshot)

    Using VST plug-ins on Windows

    VST/AU plug-in doesn't appear in Live's Browser

thanks. Here’s the screenshot of error message. I sent to NI and they said I need to use Rosetta. I don’t see Massive in NA but do see it in KK and can play sounds with it, but not load it into Ableton

I feel I’m missing some basic concept or understanding and NI support is random in suggestions

    Thanks

It will show the presets even if the synth is not installed. You can't play the sounds- you are hearing the previews.

As I said before based on the list of purchases from your first post, you do not appear to own Massive. You don't appear to own Prism either.

Thank you. I think that you might be right.

Sorry , I came late to this and responded to your latest posts. Reading the comment of BJQ1972 and comparing with what you write in your initial post then I think that it sounds as if BJQ1972 is right. If you only got the Komplete Select bundles then you might not actually have the Massive synth. The Komplete 15 Select bundles comes with the Massive X synth but not with Massive which is another product. The fact that Komplete Kontrol lists Massive only means that there are Massive presets available but as BJQ1972 writes then that does not necessarily mean that you have the synth itself.

To get Massive also I think that you need a higher tier Komplete 15 bundle such as Komplete 15 Standard or higher tier bundle.

ok. I think I get it now. Slow learner here.

So the play is to wait till a sale and buy a bundle that includes Massive, Monark, Prism and then these presets will all work?

Thanks all for helping out. Appreciate it. Got kind of annoyed when NI was saying to use Rosetta etc.

Appreciate the support. I’ll start working with what I have that works now.

You also get Massive, Monark and Reaktor Prism included with Maschine - which is where the original problem arose - buying Maschine Expansions without taking note of this text:-

    Software

Loops and Samples work in any DAW

Maschine content requires the latest version of the Maschine software.

Additionally: Please update to the latest versions of Battery 4, Massive, Monark, Reaktor Prism and Reaktor 6 or the Reaktor 6 Player

Please note: Loops and Samples from Expansions are now accessible in the Kontakt 8 and Kontakt 8 Player browser and can be loaded directly into the Leap sampler.

Yeah , people overlooked that you did not have Massive. Even very competent people can be thrown off the track once in a while. Please excuse that. 🙂

So the play is to wait till a sale and buy a bundle that includes Massive, Monark, Prism and then these presets will all work?

Waiting for a sale sounds as a good plan , please notice that not all offers are always on from the start of the sale and some only kicks in later. I consider the Komplete 15 Standard bundle as a great deal when you compare price with what you get , especially if bought on a sale. 🙂 (for Massive in Komplete 15 Standard bundle see section "Legendary synthesizers")

You can get a few extra bits if you also grab the free Komplete Start

If you want some free synths then scroll down this page over at U-He.

Also then SonusCore have seven free items for Kontakt , but six of them require full version of Kontakt. (of the free libraries then only "The Orchestra Elements" works with the Player version of Kontakt) (Also then only those that only says 0,00 is free the rest is trial versions)

FractureSounds : Blueprint Collection , 18 free Kontakt instruments that works with the free Kontakt Player. To get the 'Blueprint series instruments then you are required to subscribe to a newsletter to get the link to be able to buy the instruments at zero cost (no CCrequired) Every individual instrument in the collection require it's own key to redeem in Native Access and is a download of it's own.

I did take note and understood limitations of some of the offerings of expansions without having maschine…why I asked about is it worth getting. I think part of my confusion was seeing Monark, Prism etc on the screen and not being able to load them…until it was explained you can see/hear presets but can't use them (which just seems weird to me still)

Thanks…this is all super useful and will check out those links for free stuff etc. I'll wait for sale and see what's offered.

    Thanks again
