Is 1.61 the last update for M+ and Maschine 2?

I've looked and can't find the definitive answer here. I know I don't want to update my M+ to 3 because I use Maschine 2 software.

Will there be more updates for the M+ that would still allow it to be used with the Maschine 2 software?

Or is the next update only if you want to start using the Maschine 3 software?

    Hello,

you can use maschine 3 software with m+, but then you can't load the projects on m+. Maybe this is something interesting for you:

1.6.1 is the last known update for Maschine 2

I'm thinking of buyiong another M+ for "testing" the waters with Maschine 3, as I have heard upgrading to maschine 3 will not be undoable on M+ - once your M+ updates to Maschine 3, you cannot go back to Maschine 2

In one of the comments by NI staff it was mentioned that the team now focuses on bringing the Maschine 3 application to the M+. Therefore, Maschine+ 1.6.1 is the last version that runs the Maschine 2 (2.18.5) application. This is also connected to the fact that the Maschine 2 (desktop) application is considered as deprecated and neither developed nor fixed any further.

You confuse maschine hardware version with the software, you can use maschine software version 3 with the m+ right now but, as I said you then can't use the projects on the m+ stand alone. So yoo don't need another m+. You can even install maschine software 2 and 3 side by side on your computer. Another thing is the firmware version directly on the m+, that's covered in the linked article.

As I understand it, @S Righteous asked whether the M+ (standalone!) will receive future maintenance updates beyond 1.6.1 (e.g. 1.6.2, 1.6.3, … 1.7.0) which do not update the application to Maschine 3 (on the M+ in standalone!).

BTW, in case you don’t know, the Maschine+ has three different version numbers to keep track of: The System version (currently 1.6.1.24), the Maschine application version (currently 2.18.5) and Firmware version (currently 0.1.9):

Unfortunately, as of now, the Maschine application version is tied to the System version as they are both parts of the Maschine+ software package and not distributed or installable separately. Hence when a future update of the Maschine+ software is made available — which might contain a Linux kernel update potentially fixing issues unrelated to the Maschine application, like with 1.6.1 — it will most probably include an update to the Maschine application version 3.x.

So far this all has absolutely nothing to do with the Maschine desktop application software.

Now, if a user (for whatever reason) wants to stay on Maschine 2 on their desktop computer, they most probably won‘t be able to update their Maschine+ beyond 1.6.1 if they want to retain Project compatibility between standalone and desktop.
