Can’t load Kontakt 8 in Komplete Kontrol

I’m new to the NI ecosystem and picked up the s49 mk3 a few days ago with komplete 15 standard.

i think i may have messed up something with my install but I can’t figure out what to do to fix it. I have kontakt 8 and i can open it standalone but in Komplete Kontrol Kontakt 8 is greyed out and I’m not sure why. I see 6 and 7 but not 8. This effects some of the NI effect plugins too.

however, Logic Pro x can find all of them and load them as plugins or effects directly in the daw. I.e. I can add Kontakt 8 as an instrument directly, but I can’t load it into Komplete Kontrol.

is that just how it works or do I need to do something to connect them? I don’t know that I’ll actually use phrases or chord mode much, but I’d like to have access to them through Komplete Kontrol anyway.
