More support would be nice indeed.

But the “conversion software” is not messy at all.

You literally have to take only 3 steps: say what expansion you want, say for which program (let’s say Ableton Live) and push start.

It will convert ALL kits of that expansion in Ableton format automatically.

    Not too difficult

You (nor I) never talked about presets. A preset is just a sound, that then can be played. Like a piano or guitar sound.

We were talking about patterns. And a previous song is, in some ways, a pattern.

But…since now you say that you didn’t say what you said, I think the discussion is over 👍🏼

@LostInFoundation you're clutching at straws now, trying to use semantics. I can only assume you're fully aware of what I meant and what I'm saying. You're just arguing for the sake of it.

    🤐

    Well…no…but ok

Whether I said 'preset', 'pattern' or 'preset pattern' is irrelevant. The meaning here is basically the same. They come with the product, and they're free to be made use of. There are thousands of hit tracks that use presets.

On the other hand, using (sampling) copyrighted material requires permission from the copyright holder. It's not "a little bit like" at all.

I'm sure you know this, so I really shouldn't need to spell it out.

After a lot of “why” and criticisms by my side, I would also say something to people who are starting to ask “do I have to pay for that?”.

I think this is not a good direction to take.

In my opinion, we the users should start to think that it is sometimes correct to pay for some things.

I would really like to see companies thinking “I’ll add this or that to our existing products to make them better and ask for the correct price for the work done”.

In this way everyone would win: the users having their devices improved and the companies having a cash flow to remain healthy and to invest in future things. And a reason to put work in improving things (and improving it with good stuffs, otherwise users won’t buy them), instead of abandoning them to prioritize other things that can be sold.

The idea of updates having to be free is, imo, not correct and not healthy.

I do understand that in a case like this (the Expansions) it could seem that they are asking for money for something we already paid for. But what we paid for were those Expansions for Maschine. Now they had to put work in order to make them available for a different platform. And what we would pay for is this work.

Of course the price must be right for people who already bought them.

Continuing to demand for free stuff is of course making us spare money in the short term, but will soon force us to buy something new, since what we already bought will be abandoned because it’s not profitable for the company anymore.

I don’t think anyone of us would accept to be asked to work for free, unless when we had been paid for the work we would have charged enough money also for the future work. This is what they are doing when charging us the price for the things we buy: they calculate at what price they can sell it, including the costs of development, manufacturing and a series of updates for a certain period. But after a while, more ulterior work could be put on it… but correctly asking for the price of this work.

The only thing that goes beyond this reasoning imo are fixes. If something has not been made correctly or brakes, it is in the company’s duties to fix what they have done wrong

The process is short with conversion software, what I mean with mess is that it may lead to a lot of duplicate samples (which is annoying). Of course conversion software is one way to solve it, but cross platform solutions would be nice to streamline the process even further.

I suspect the “duplicate sample” will be there anyway, with the new versions of the expansions.

In any case, as I said, yes…more support would be nice.

I named conversion softwares just to underline that I find this move from NI strange. Specially considering the little strengths they have to invest.
Finding it strange which doesn’t mean I don’t understand it: it will generate sales. And that is what they are after

If I'm an "Ultimate Collector's Edition" user, which product bundle contains the same products, what are available for MPC user too...
And, I have an MPC ONE plus HW, is the same product available for me on the MPC platform too?

Be careful, I think you misunderstood:

Even if you own all the products that will be released with a bundle, the new versions for Akai will be for sale in their new form, not simply installable.

Which, as I already said before, is correct imo. Work done must be paid

Would love to see mixing hardware like the Softube Console 1 to join the NKS partner program in the Effects category.
