Why are there 2 types Piano/Keys in the list presented by Komplete Kontrol ?

These 2 types filter different products when selected, isn't it a bug where there should be only one type and more subtypes ?
I have Komplete 14 Collector, is it related ?

Annoying.

Because a the Piano/Keys (without spaces) is an OLD tag form years ago, it was changed in the NKS 1.5 standard to "Piano / Keys" with spaces to make it more normal in appearance but you have some NKS files still tagged with the old tagging.

If you filter the old piano/keys tag, what presets come under it? If they are from Native instruments, that is an issue they need to fix. If it is from an official 3rd party, then the 3rd party needs to fix (and NI need to do a better QC job when approving libraries).

I also note the tag "Ambience" which is a character (tho not an official NKS tag), so that is also incorrect, same with the "Best of" tag, that isn't even an official tag either but I know someone at NI made a mess of some tagging in Massive X but that has been like that for 2 years now so will chalk that up to another issue destined to never be fixed…

When you select Piano/Keys Komplete Kontrol displays another line of sub classifications below the original list where you can further filter the type such as Grand Piano, Upright Piano, clavinet, harpsichord, etc.

Where do you experience that ? in the Komplete Kontrol app ? As far as I can see then I do not have two Piano/Keys (?) , and selecting the one that I do have does not generate two separate lists.

P.S. Of course then as pointed out by DunedinDragon then once you select the Piano/Keys you are also offered a row of different types of 'Keys' to choose from.

It's right there on the screen you posted. Look at the bottom line in that list that shows Celesta, Clavinet, Electric Piano, etc. That shows up when you select Piano/Keys and you can select any of those as a subset.

Thank you yes , I were editing my post to clarify as you were posting , but that is not two separate lists but the narrowing down of the one - or not if not used.

But I guess that I misunderstood the OP and you understood.. (I thought that the OP had two selections in the part where I marked with Red on my picture)

Here is what is displayed in my KKS61 mk3, you can see that the Piano/Keys type is duplicated.
It is not a subtype on another line.

It seems that on the first occurence Piano is ended with a space char, not on the second.
    Certainly a bug.
    A quality defect.

So I didn't misunderstand you 🙂. Is it the same in the Komplete Kontrol app ?

I am no expert in any of that in as much as that I didn't really start to install and use the N.I. software until K14 and Native Access 3.x.x since Native Access 2.x.x didn't really work for me (Native Access 3.x.x is now still called Native Access 2 but by now that is just a name).

But I am not so sure that this is a real bug a such as much as most likely due to a remnant of some sort form having used a previous version of something where it were formatted a bit different in the way that you point out. Either that or you could have installed something else that has generated what you see.

At least I do not have that in my Komplete Kontrol app and since I do not have any S-Series MK3 setup then I don't know how it looks on the MK3 keyboard.

We could start to investigate , and try to reset things and what not , but are you sure that it's really worth all that bother ?

Alternatively then you could try to approach N.I. Komplete Kontrol Support (?) and present them with your finding.

In case that you need guidance contacting support : How to contact NI Support and How to get in touch with our Customer Care

    Ok, thank you.

Yes NI should do a better QC job in regard to the complexity these errors introduce and the price we pay for all this. 😕

Which library has the old version? It should be fed back to the developer so they correct it

For me I only see this with 2 - Synthmaster 3 and an AAS bank

Yes AAS (Aftermath-a free offer!!!- and Masala for me) and Synthmaster 3 + bx_oberhausen (quite NI).

If you are really bugged by it you can fix it - in fact I forgot about Bx Oberhausen because I fixed their NKS myself including the tagging. The AAS one and Synthmaster are more recent additions and I hadn’t actually noticed

You can’t edit factory NKS but if you temporarily copy them to a user location, you can edit them from there, then copy them back to the factory folder

I stopped trying to integrate and edit NKS libs, I tried but without any success.
My first problem was where and how to install them in W11 ??? Big puzzle.
Many informations here and around about NKS were not compliant with the last NKS version, staying at a previous one. Even respecting this I never had any success, as an exemple, trying to install Korg Natives synths libs found here.
    So I gave up.
I am waiting that Korg, who is member of the NKS 'alliance' (they are mentionned ???), provides its own NKS libs, but it seems it will be over the end of times :(
    So no try in editing.

They won't make the old plugins NKS
Best you can do is here (support available with libraries, they are pretty simple to install):

I also tried it but very poor quality, missing presets, missing pictures, no sound, etc. not a work someone should resale.
    My own opinion.

Well, I developed them and can say, if you installed correct, no images missing, no sounds will be missing, also because these have been developed and updated for 10+ years with user feedback, there are no missing presets either, at least not reported from anyone and it's the second highest selling and praised collection, second to Omnisphere so this would be the first I am hearing of issues that are not user installation related.

If you purchased it, more than happy to assist if you have issues but obviously can't assist if you can't point out what is the issue you have. By the sound of it you either used a very old version or not the one I developed (or supply) as I have no complaints in 10 years, pretty sure many here can vouch for that.
