I've lost EXTERNAL MIDI IN capability running S61 Mk 3 on LogicProX

Recently purchased S61 Mk3 and managed to set it up OK checking firmware update and installing hardware controller etc.

It all was running smoothly for me, and I had an old M-Audio MDI controller plugged into the S61 MIDI IN socket, and could play Logic from that too.

It was going SO well, that I decided to sell my trusty old A800 controller, and so, after one last check that it was all working fine, I deleted its setup in Logic surfaces.

Ever since, I've not been able to get my M-Audio to pass through the S61.

I've checked in Logic's MIDI SET UP that the S61 Ext is ticked (along with Main and DAW).

I'm fairly sure that when it was working before I deleted the A800 stuff I had the controller settings for MIDI input and output to ALL and ANY, but now the S61 only sends transport messages if I have them set to DAW. This might be a red herring - not sure.

Anyway, I've tried all the things in the manual and online troubleshooting and I'm really frustrated. It seems something has been left behind by the A800 deletion that has corrupted some part of the chain between my M-Audio, through the S61 to Logic.

I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas, or maybe knows how to clean out everything and start the set up again? (Incidentally have also tried deleting the S61 in the Logic Controller Setup page, in the hope that I'll get the Auto Assign message, but again it seems there's some residue because all that happens is that when I switch the keyboard on, it appears in the SetUp Window without needing any installation, so deletion hasn't reset it completely and I still have same MIDI problem).

Having worked out it's definitely the S61, I decided to try a factory reset of the keyboard, and yay, yay, that did the trick. I now have MIDI throughput. I'd love to understand why this went wrong, but am happy at least for now it's fixed. Thanks for the MIDI Monitor tip - very helpful.

Can you try using a standalone MIDI monitor to see if the keyboard is correctly sending data from the external MIDI? Something like this should work - https://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/ That will eliminate any of the configuration inside Logic.

Unfortunately it looks like S61 is not sending the external MIDI.
MIDI monitor is showing results when I play the S61, but not when I play other MIDI keyboards plugged into it's MIDI IN socket.
I've tried my M-Audio Oxygen, AND a big Fatar controller, and I've swapped MIDI leads too.
Both these were working through a junction box with my A-800, just days ago, so I can rule out any issues with them (or their connections).
Looks like the issue is definitely narrowed down to the S61 then?

It does look that way. I'll have a play around with my MK3 later once I've woken up a bit more and see if it works here. I've got vague recollections of the external MIDI not being functional when the S61 is USB connected, but I'm not certain if that's still the case. @Matthew_NI will know for certain.

SO, it's happened again. For no reason I can work out, the MIDI through has simply stopped functioning.
I guess a factory reset will fix it again, but then I'll lose various settings, which is rather annoying.

Is there a way to save my current set up before factory reset and then load back in after?

And is anyone else losing MIDI thru from time to time? Is this a bug or something in my particular setup?
