Has anyone figured out long USB cable run for S MK3 series keyboard?

Hello,

Have searched this forum and the topic has been brought up, but did not see a clear answer. I just purchased an S88 MK3 keyboard and need to do about a 30' (10M) run. I have tried a cable from Amazon - it was a USB C optical cable 50' (can't post a link because the forum says "I need to be around a little longer?!!)

and it worked briefly, but has stopped. Has anyone figured out a solid work around for NI's default 3M answer on cable length? TIA.

This isn't really about "workarounds". It's about industry standards. See Section 3.1.2 (page 37) here:

    USB Type-C Spec R2.0 - August 2019.pdf

NI's answer of 3M is (IMO) still being generous but if you think you can simply bend the rules of the USB implementation standards - prepared to be disappointed.

Consider moving your device to a position within the limits of those established standards.

Thanks for the response. With all due respect, I would have moved the keyboard if plausible. I can not be the only person that wants their keyboard in a different part of the room. Trust me, I am already disappointed with a $1400 paper weight.

I am sure, someone with a large room or a commercial recording studio has bought this keyboard and has need to figure out the length issue. There are active repeaters on the market and was hoping someone has tried one. I have calls into several manufacturers.

No need to be nasty…I am just trying to sort a problem. And yes rules were made to be broken. Otherwise I have a keyboard for sale 😁

No "nasty" implied. And I totally get that you are trying to solve an issue - but let's be honest - if this were easily solvable - you probably wouldn't need to come here to ask - yes?

That said - I frequent several commercial facilities - 2 of which have NI gear but both have workstation furniture that allow the keyboard to be within the distance spec.

Even commercial studios cannot overcome established physical standards.

Unfortunately in this case - the rule is the rule. But it is important to remember that it is not one that NI has any control over.

Please read this discussion : Long USB cable for S61 MKIii

Also then please notice that apparently then even if we do our best to recommend a cable then that will guarantee that you can not still experience problems because of USB-C chip set problems.
