Kontakt 7 output default - Surround 7.1
When I load a Kontakt 7 instrument (in Logic Pro), the output always defaults to Surround 7.1 (as opposed to "st. 1"). It sounds fine, like a simple stereo output, but I would like it better if the default were "st. 1".
FYI, when I load in Kontakt 7 in Logic Pro (Native Instruments>Kontakt 7>Stereo), I choose "Stereo" .

To reset the output configuration
- Open Kontakt in standalone.
- Select the output view (click F2 on your keyboard)
- Click on "reset output section (to targets default)"
- Click on Save current output section state as default, choose "All formats"

Thank you Sunborn. Your advise worked on one of my Macs, but the other one I had to follow this idea to fix it:
From NI: • macOS: Macintosh HD > Users > *username* > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Kontakt
Note: The User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click Go in the Finder menu bar. Then, hold down the Alt/Option key on your computer's keyboard. Choose the appearing Library entry in the drop-down menu. Remove Default folder, restart standalone.

Since the output configuration in the standalone is fine, there is no reset to default configuration, there is only reset output configuration for standalone. My issue is that in VE Pro it opens with the 7.1. Reset for standalone does nothing for VE Pro or one supposes any host, which is just logical.
The fix I thought I understood was at Application Support in ~Library there is a folder, default (containing the output .cfgs), that once trashed should be rebuilt opening the standalone. It does replace it but no change is effected. This worked for Kontakt "6". Oh well, I guess it sounds as stereo regardless and the cfg is meaningful only in a surround project. I'm not a fan of K7.

@Jeremy_NI Any thoughts on this? I'm also dealing with a similar issue. All of my Kontakt 7 instruments load Surround 7.1 by default which is not something I want. I tried the above but can't get the default to load Stereo. How do we do this for our pre-existing templates in the DAW?

Have you modified the outputs before loading any library? What about when you're not using a pre-made template? Do Kontakt 7 show 7.1 outputs then? It might be an issue with the template?

Gotcha thank you. I ended up just opening in standalone, deleting the default output files that kontakt 7 makes, re-making a new one and saving it and applying the output preset to all versions of kontakt 7 and then, re-loading the session (template). Idk why, but the first time I did this (and 2nd time), it didn't take, but after today's update you guys released for 7.10.7, it seems to have worked itself out. I can't tell if it's just cuz I kept re-trying it over and over, or if it really worked, but the Surround 7.1 issue has seemed to have gone away for now. Thank you!

Why can't you change the output within the plug in, in a DAW? My output somehow became corrupt on Kontakt 7 (I've never switched or used 7.1 outputs but somehow it became the default). Pretty darn frustrating, wasted a few hours dealing with this. Weird bug.

My assumption 'any host' was wrong. In VE Pro a particular saved .nki loads with 7.1 and selecting make new output stays at make new output (or whatever the language is) which is idiotic. In Cubase 13.0.41 the self-same nki loads 'stereo 1 output 1-2' as expected for the last 21 yrs. So my supposition now is that once again a developer can't be arsed to check their product working VE Pro. Endemic across platforms like it isn't what composers all over are using. The whole awareness of NI today appears to regard only the non-musicians that are enthusiastic AF for "Leap" like they have only the one finger that works. I don't know what BFD Drums excuse is except it looks like nobody works there but one guy.
There are too many issues with Native Instruments to even go into, it puts a major chill on my interest. There are other fish in the sea FFS.0 -
As it stands there is no way to make Kontakt 7 do multiple outputs in VE Pro at all here. M1 MacBook, MacOS 14.7.2. Additionally, the settings are buggy. My settings with Kontakt were never double click and replace selected .nki. I've avoided K7 as much as possible, today I was demonstrating something to a new user and that's how it handled things; so I go into settings - under File now, which is idiotic, it's not a type of file but I suppose someone didn't have work to do so they made a change for the sake of change - to turn that off. Next time it did the same thing. Libraries being a whole page now, I don't even know how to load anything - three times at least I would select a Library and click on that menu on the right showing and it was from another library - except from File. This is a gigantic BOTCH in my view. I will probably trash it, this is not something I can use.
