After 14 years with Maschine, I can’t help but feel it hasn’t evolved to fulfill its potential. Compared to Ableton Live, which consistently improves with user feedback, Maschine still lacks key features like proper audio tracks and full DAW integration. Updates rarely address long-standing user requests—and arguably never will. Meanwhile, Ableton offers a complete, scalable solution for production, arrangement, and live performance. Looking back, I wish I’d invested in Ableton sooner, as they continue to invest in and dedicate a meaningful strategy to improving the product.

Maschine vs Ableton Live is not a "like for like" comparison. Compare it to Akai's MPC software, or Serato Studio maybe. Plus, you've only got to read Ableton's forum to see there are also long standing requests there for certain things, that Ableton have never implemented.

Probably best not to compare Maschine with MPC software. I had a look at 3.4 Beta and it is basically everything that Maschine could have been.

I'm referring to the computer software, not the standalone MPC OS. Akai have done things the other way around to NI and updated the standalones first, with no date for the update to computer version.

I also find there's absolutely no communication from Ableton at all in the forums, you might as well shout your feature request into an empty shoe.

Does anyone know what will be fixed/patched in the M+ update? Will the issue with vendor tags be fixed?

I'm a little confused now as to whether I will be forced to update to 3.0 in order to get Massive parity for the wavetable selection, or if there will be a final release for 2 that rounds off the bugs and issues form the previous? I have the feeling that we won't and that this update will be tacked over the top of it, but you've got to have dreams.

Nobody (probably not even the team members) knows what will be fixed in the next M+ update (if there will be one, ever). And I assume there won't be a "final" 2.18.4 for the M+ including all pre-three-o fixes either. Therefore, in order to get the fixes, you'll be forced to accept using 3.x.

The vendor tag issue (if we're talking about the same problem) is not even acknowledged by the Maschine team. I reported it in August 2023 and confirmed it in collaboration with @D-One in November 2023.

Regarding tagging, there were new bugs introduced with Maschine 3.0, while existing ones still persist.

Disappointing to hear, but I expected it.

For me is that the vendor tags are just not displayed on M+, I presume this is the same issue. If NI want to lean so hard on the tagging, why make it this difficult for us? Ableton appears to be making their own moves with their tagging system now being somewhat automatic.

Suuuper frustrating to find this out AFTER I had tagged basically my entire library for easier browsing on standalone 🙄
