Flickering UI

Hello,

I just started using NativeAccess and also instruments in Logic Pro. I have 3 displays and no matter which one I'm using the software on, the display will intermittently flicker. Not the entire display, just the NI instrument that I'm using. Sometimes it does it nonstop, other times it will start and stop every few minutes. Is there a reason for this and potentially a fix for it?

Thanks for any input. I'm excited to be here in this community and learn + share.

After reading a few other topic I found out there is a problem with nvidia G-sync.

And it was the problem on my setup! I removed G-sync compatibility in nvidia panel, and no more flickering !

But I'm still left with the sound randomly disappearing…

I'm going to keep up with my research, and/or open a new thread.

What processor is your Mac? M2/M3, Max, Pro? What model are your monitors?

Hi, apologies for the lack of info- My MacBook Pro is an M2 Pro with 16GB. OS is 14.5 Sonoma. The display flickers on the MacBook screen itself as well as an LG 32ML600 with resolution set to 1920 X 1080, refresh rate is set to 60, but changing it to 50 or 75 makes no difference. The third display is just a Scepter P30 at a resolution of 2560 X 1080, refresh rate also does not affect the flickering. (Both connected via HDMI).

Ok, thanks for the info, what NI instruments induce this behaviour? Kontakt, Komplete Kontrol?

    Kontact 6 & 7, Guitar Rig 7, Massive X, Battery 4.

This is still happening, nearly every time I use it. I've attached a screen capture video so you can see what the behaviour is.

it’s not the mains charger constantly disconnecting then reconnecting?

@acousticmirror There should be a new Sonoma update available, 14.6.1. Have you tried updating? Do you still get the flickering?

I had a similar problem as you caused by the charger.

    On battery everything was fine.

By default the display is slightly dimmed while using the battery, hence is brighter with the charging cable attached and turned on.

My MacBook charger uses the MagSafe connector I presume yours does too?

When the MagSafe cable is connected and the charger is plugged in, there is a little LED light that glows orange while the MacBook is charging or green when the MacBook is fully charged.

My display started acting similarly to how you describe yours, it was really distracting and annoying. Then I noticed that each time it dimmed the orange LED went out and when it got bright, the orange LED. was lit.

So I looked at the battery icon at the top right. Sure enough, while the screen was bright, the battery icon had the charging symbol and when the screen was dull, the battery icon had a plug signal.

So, for me, my flickering problem was caused by my MacBook constantly switching from charging to not charging, even though the charger was switched on.

I fixed it by unplugging my charger from both the wall socket and my MacBook and restarting my MacBook and waiting 5 mins before plugging charger back in.

EDIT: I’ve just reread your post and see that it’s not your entire screen flickering, it’s only the instruments user interface. That makes what I’ve said totally irrelevant to your problem but I’ll leave it here in case it helps anyone else.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I'll keep an eye on that the next time that this happens. But I don't think that's what my issue is. The only thing flickering are my Native Instruments plug-in's. It happens if I'm using them stand-alone as well. But, nothing else on the screen flickers. And, I have two HDMI displays as well, when I move the flickering plug-in to the other displays, it continues to flicker. Thanks for your response though, I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Was your's also JUST the user interface that was flickering or was it the entire screen?

    Mine was the entire screen

    Exact same issue here!

I've noticed that tonight on prime bass. have been using prime bass for two years now and the problem just started recently.

I confirm that this is not all the screen flickering, just prime bass windows.

And I'm on PC, so this is not platform related.
