Kontakt 7 very very long to launch

Within the Komplete Kontrol Preferences→Plugins - I only check those plugins I have installed that I know are 100% NKS compatible and are actually controllable/selectable from my S-Series S61 MKII. Everything else is unchecked and ignored within Komplete Kontrol.

For Kontakt itself - I do not allow any VST2 plugins and really just tightened up my plugins in general. I do not need 1200 plugins installed when 400 will do everything perfectly.

Actually - probably do not even need 400 - more like 50 :)

my problem is that i need vst and many old vsts to open old projects. I prefer to continue to work with kontakt 6 and old versions like maschine 2.16 and komplete kontrol 2.8 instead of Kontakt 8 if it takes minutes to open such a damn plugin. So i have more than 1000 Plugins and can stick with old versions i a major update makes everything worse like Komplete Kontrol 3. I am sure I'll skip Maschine 3 Software Update also, I can't imagine that it will bring ayn advance, but 10 disadvantages….

Don't get me wrong. Everything else is up to date. NI and Waldorf Largo 2 are latest updates i skipped.

I thought I needed them too. Until I really did a hard core analysis of what I had before (1200+ plug-ins) and what I really needed for my new DAW.

Bit the bullet and ditched a ton of stuff. If I encounter any old projects that need something that I dropped - I replace it on the fly with a plugin that made the cut.

This move made such a huge difference in my launch times that I will not be adding anything more to the mix for the go forward.

But I get it. Some actually need that many plugins while some just think they do.

If you can handle repeated long load times due to that kind of plugin count - then rock on.

Me - I don’t like waiting on KK wasting time scanning stuff I would never use in KK anyway.

One thing that is clear to me - is there is no way that NI loaded up some hodge podge collection of 1200+ plugins like I had - to test the startup load times of KK or Kontakt.

That many plugins would slow anything down eventually

i don't have to wait anywhere else, except of Ni. All other 1400 Plugins work very well, even old stuff like Steinberg Guitarist 2 jbridged to 64 bit or Kore 2 with all expansions.

I don't use them in new projects and i don't use VST2 anymore in new projects, but it doesn't slow my system down. The only problem makes NI, so I stick with old versions of Maschione 2.16, Komplete Kontrol 2.8, Guitar Rig 6, Battery 4.2 and Kontakt 6 as long as I don't see any Advance in new NI Stuff - What is your benefit of newest Komplete Kontrrol ? do you have an Mk3 ?

I have sold my Mk2 because i like to work direct in ableton with push and macros to control, faster workflow than KK. I only use KK sometimes for prelistening and browsing, but i do it most in Maschine.

I think you are missing the point here slightly. Yes - I totally understand that having 1400 plugins on your system "won't slow you down". And that you do not have to wait elsewhere - that is not the issue.

The issue is - if you are not actually using all 1400 plugins directly inside Komplete Kontrol - all day, every day - why (under the Preferences→VST Plugins) would you ever allow KK to make your life a pain by waiting to it to scan 1400 plugins everytime?

Get in there and tell it what it can AND what not to scan. Like scan 67 of 1400. Or 212. And watch your scan/wait time drop dramatically.

That is what I did (but restricting myself to ONLY scan NKS) and now KK opens in 5 secs - is all I am saying.

So what's going on now? Have the developers forgotten about Kontakt 7 and the slow loading or are there still plans for improvement?

    K7 is now officially retired.

K8 gets the dev time now.

No no, not forgotten, a final Kontakt 7 update should come soon and address this issue.

Hope they also fix Maschine 3 and Komplete Kontrol 3 - with these loading times the updates are useless

    Jeremy/NI,

Thank you for persisting in looking into this for K7 owners.

I can confirm that my GUI loading times have dropped from greater than 45 seconds (sometimes a minute +) to about 5 seconds and quicker.

Really appreciate this and now K7 is finally useable for me.

Out of interest, would the fix NI used for Kontakt 7 work for latest vesion of Guitar rig 6 and Battery?

It would be great if Guitar Rig 6 and Battery became useable again! 😀

I'm glad to hear it. We can also thank @Matthew_NI for pushing it as well as the Kontakt devs and QA.

Guitar Rig 6 will not get a fix or update. There should be some work done on Battery 4 in the coming months but nothing tangible to share yet.

    Hi

Almost 2 years that I've opened this thread! 2 years for a fix!

So yes it's a bit quicker than before (15s now for me) but there is still the same issues after an update. My daw (Reaper) rescans most part of my plugins, it takes a lot of time. And always this XML files issue.

I won't upgrade or buy NI softwares anymore, the commercial policy is so bad, there's no respect of the customer, I'm sorry to say that.

    Best Regards

    Thanks for the update.

The start time has become slightly faster with my UR 824: 42 seconds.

With another ASIO driver (Steinberg Built In ASIO Driver), Kontakt 7 starts in 6 seconds!

Therefore, I refer again to my last post, in which I pointed out dependencies on the driver but also on the number of channels of the audio interface.
Maybe NI can say something about this?
