I really hope for smth like Z1 with at least additional buttons to activate/deactivate stems & to activate/deactivate FX for every stems. Ideally small things next to EQ knobs (which can be used as stems volume controls if there would be 4 of them; if there's no space on the device for another knob, I'm ready to "sacrifice" gain knob for this job, so stem/effects buttons could be next to gain knob as well - it would let the user to decide how to use this knob as gain control or as stem control alongside with buttons next to it).

I'm so surprised that this kind of layout (so natural in my imagination) had not been implemented by any of the equipment producers so far… if it had been, I would own such equipment already! :D

It would be so good to have constant visual info which stems are active, and which stems are FX-enabled.

I was about to buy new Reloop Mixtour to map it accordingly, but this announcement makes me wait those few weeks to check what NI gonna deliver.

Few more buttons/knobs to be mapped however user wants would be welcomed as well ofc. But if there'd be at least additional "infinity/rotary knob" for master tempo adjustment I'd be on cloud nine.

Will we see Mk4 versions of the S2, 3 or 4, please?
Or entirely new two/four deck controllers?

    🙏🤞

Or does "modular" mean more hardware along the X1/Z1 form factor?

Looking forward to hearing more news soon.

My gut (and the fact there isn't a firesale on the Mk3 hardware) tells me we may be waiting longer for the next generation of S2/3/4. 😥

    It will be a Z1 MK2!

The strange thing is that some shops and news sites were already online for this, but apparently something was withdrawn at the last moment.

Now we can only speculate whether there was a delivery problem with the hardware or whether there was a software problem with the associated Traktor update.

Unfortunately, there is no official statement about what is going on there...

Unfortunately, I don't know either. But at the moment it can be assumed that the modular range will be renewed first. I'm guessing there will be a new F1 in the near future. But that's pure speculation. At the moment I don't really believe in a rebirth of the D2.

New all-in-one controllers would probably be available at the end of next year, or later. But here too I'm rather skeptical.

What would be particularly desirable is to finally see some movement from third-party manufacturers. That would probably boost the hardware business in the NI universe a bit.

Agreed, it would be great to see some more third party controllers. Are we safe to assume we won't see any more Pionner DJ controllers supporting Traktor following the Alpha-Theta Serato merger?

Up until now, only Pioneer's flagship devices and club standards have received official support. I don't expect that to change much.

Did the Serato takeover definitely work out? I thought that the authorities in New Zealand had recently said no to it. But hey, maybe they're looking for a new partner at RANE now? ;-)

I think Alpha Zheta would be interested in supporting other DJ devices through the Serato software solely for the purpose of demonstrating in the courts of law that they would not become a monopoly if the New Zealand regulatory authorities finally accept the purchase of the Serato software. For nothing else. So if Native Instruments is also interested in that official support for whatever reason, then there will be.

At the moment the Phase device company for DVS is offering to work together with other brands and Native Instruments has not implemented the official support code.....

We don't know anything about what is hidden in this kind of agreements full of economic and industrial interests.

Is it just me that understands 'a couple' to be two and a week to be 7 days?
Come on Traktor, where is the new hardware?

Ahhh! I've just found this post. https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/37395/new-traktor-z1-mkii-is-launched

Looks like an update to the Z1. Looks super nice and perfectly styled to go with the X1mk3… but I was really hoping a D2 mk2 - for them to be much bolder in support of pro 4. Ultimately that'd pave the way for an S8 Mk 2 (glad I bought a mint, hardly touched, S8 on ebay for £300 in the week pro 4 was released :D I love it).

I reckon we're a year or so away from those, but I was hoping to see it as it could have hinted at what they are planning for the software going forward too.

I'm slightly tempted by the Z1 mk 2 as I have to travel a lot with work, but whilst it's a fiddle to use the mixer on the X1 mk3, it's easily enough to do my mix prep and sequencing at the airport. I am not convinced they will sell enough of these to make it worthwhile.

It looks nice but i’m not a X1/Z1 user 🥲 Really looking forward to see how they apply this design concept to the S4, and a relaunch of the D2/S8. Also hoping not to be waiting a year for each iteration of piece of hardware hahah

Agreed. They've done a fantastic design job on it, I'd want to check out the functionality to judge it fully, but if not already in the ecosystem or a Z1 user then It looks like it could be a great option.

I've two set ups, 2xSL1200s (That I bought in the 90's), a Z2 (which I love) and an X1mk3 (which I also love). I can use the X1 travelling and I have the recently purchased S8 (which I see as the future for what I do).

I'd like a D2 mk2 unit for the first set up and I'd like to see improvements to the S8 - amongst other thing I would want it more X1mk3 like for the pattern player (which I use all the time). I think if they brought out a 4 deck version of the Z2 (I know you can use it that way, but I'd want 4 volume controls I can get at immediately, etc) I'd be interested in that as a replacement to the Z2.
