S49 MK3 day one - nothing working....

in Komplete Kontrol

Hi.

A few teething problems I hope, not having a great time so far!

Sustain pedal works, Expression with a Moog ep-3 not doing anything, Any ideas? In the settings it looks right, but it's not sending any data.

Komplete kontrol works standalone, but in Logic / protools, when I try & load an instrument I get plugin not found error. In standalone it loads fine.

Kontakt 6 doesn't show up on S49 - K7 or 8 are ok.

Can I get some pointers?

    Have you granted full disk access to Logic and Komplete Kontrol? Do you have the VST3 of Kontakt installed?

    Yes, Full disk access is ticked for those, and also the Kontakts

    VST3 Kontakts (6,7,8) are installed.

    I re-installed komplete kontrol, but still not finding the plugins in logic.

    I got the Moog ep-3 working now by calibrating.

    And yet another question, Does this keyboard not recognize Kontakt 6?

    Not on its own, only since Kontakt 7 and 8

    There is a tick box in options to use / not use the latest versions of Kontakt and other NI instruments when more than one version is on the system so try checking or unchecking that

    Did full disk access make a difference?

    Disk access was already on, so no, unfortunately no difference.

    I have the 'latest version', unchecked. But if I check it, still get the plugin not found message. (using the plugin - again, standalone is fine)

    This is my first day, so still very open to workflows….

    I mean, how useful is 'Komplete kontrol' as a plugin, do you people generally use that, or do you just use kontakt Diva etc as plugs and use the keyboard to tweak?

    Kontakt 6 does not have Direct Connection.

    I'd also recommend opening both the Kontakt (7 and 8) and Komplete Kontrol 3 standalone applications and doing a plug-in/content rescan to ensure your content is showing up as it should.

    I see that you're on an M2.

    Some computer chipsets made between 2020 and 2023 have a known  USB-C error that can't be fixed. This can cause sporadic problems with USB-C peripherals like the Kontrol S MK3, including connection failures, freezing, or issues with firmware updates.

    I can't confirm that you are affected, but if you experience these issues, try using a USB-C hub between your Kontrol S MK3 and your computer. This can help avoid the problem and ensure a stable connection. This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer.

    For me it’s indispensable because I greatly value highly customisable tactile control over my plugins, as well as the comprehensive expression options (eg poly aftertouch, support for 4 pedals, touchstrip) as well as preset management.

    I hear you, I mean that’s why I bought it. Do you use the komplete plugin within your DAW for any of those functions?

    I am using both logic and protools in Rosetta, haven’t tried natively as yet

    OK try it in Native too but first make sure Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol have been opened and updated in standalone

    Right, so it's fine in native :)

    Does this mean that Rosetta is just a no go? Or is there a workaround I haven't stumbled across?

    I’m wondering if maybe KK in Rosetta is trying to load the VST2 versions, which of course won’t be installed?

    Or it might just be that it needs a rescan of plugins when you switch into Rosetta as the standalone presumably scanned the plugins while in native?
