Lo-Fi Glow Missing From Kontakt Library?

Hello,

I opened a Logic Pro project from a few months ago, in which I used two instances of Kontakt with the Lo-Fi Glow instrument.

When I open the project now, Logic Pro alerts me that there's something missing in Kontakt. When I open the Kontakt instances, Lofi-Glow is missing from the Library. I located the Lodi-Glow files manually via the Kontakt plugin but after loading the instrument, Kontakt shows "DEMO" above the instrument and does not produce any sound.

I found the suggested fix by NI, which involves deleting the NativeAccess.xml file and restarting the computer. I did that but to no avail. Nothing changed. Same problem as before. 😤

Any idea how to fix this issue?

I have this exact problem in Ableton Live. If your situation is similar, you may find my experience helpful.

    First a couple of questions:

    • Is this happening only with Logic projects using Kontakt 6?
    • Do you own Kontakt 7?
    • What version does Native Access say you have for Lo-Fi Glow?

    Thanks for the reply.

I only own Logic, so can't tell if this would happen with other DAWs.

    Yes, I own Kontakt 7.

The Lofi Glow version in Native Access is 2.0.0

The first question was intended to establish that this was happening with Kontakt 6 and not 7 (I should have left out the part about Logic), but based on everything else it seems obvious that it is Kontakt 6.

I have done some further investigation since I posted here and concluded that at some point recently Native Access changed how these libraries are registered, making them invisible to Kontakt 6 because they are not technically compatible (LoFi Glow 2.0.0 lists Kontakt 7.6 as the minimum version). They do work, and were in old DAW sessions long after they were released, but have new features which are not supported. This shouldn't (and until recently didn't) break old DAW sessions which did not use those features, but Native Instruments made the decision in some recent version of Native Access to prevent Kontakt 6 being aware of the libraries. Which leads to the problem we're experiencing.

This is speculation, but backed up by testing. I was able to get my Ableton Live session with Kontakt 6 to see and load the new version of LoFi Glow (2.0.0). I can't recommend you try what I did as it's not officially supported.

For now, your best solution is to install the old version of LoFi Glow and not update it again in Native Access as long as you still have old DAW sessions which use it in Kontakt 6. You can get the old version here: Kontakt 6 Libraries

Then if you want to migrate to Kontakt 7 and get the new versions of the libraries, you can

    • load your Logic session
    • save each instance of LoFi Glow as a Kontakt snapshot
    • load Kontakt 7 in place of 6 (I would do this in a duplicate of the track just in case)
    • load the snapshot in Kontakt 7
    • check all sounds right, then remove the track containing the old Kontakt 6 instance
    • when you've done all of them, save your Logic session as a new copy (so you can get back to the old one if you need to)

Once you're sure you've done every old Logic session, you are safe to update LoFi Glow again in Native Access.

hello again, I have downloaded the ISO file for Lofi glow, but I can't seem to open it. I've uninstalled the new 2.0 version but the provided ISO file doesn't open or do I need a special application?

When you open the ISO file it should mount as a drive. On the left hand side of Finder under 'Locations', where you would find any external or virtual hard drives.

@Just A Dawg Do you still need help on the topic? Did you have older projects made with Kontakt 6 in Logic? Do you have issues loading Lo Fi Glow in Kontakt in standalone? If you click on the NI logo in Kontakt's window, what version does it show? Is it the same version as the standalone?
