Hi All,
Does anyone know what the status of Rob Papen instruments is regarding VST3 implementation, for me their NKS presets do not seem to trigger the loading of their VST3 instruments if the VST2 versions are not present, talking to them on support seems a little confusing when discussing NKS, they said that the presets were created using VST2, and told me to re-run the Exploer 9 installer to replace the missing files, not sure if it's me or them not understanding!

The problem is not the NKS but their implementation of VST3. It seems like some other developers (eg KORG Legacy) the VST3 is nothing but a wrapper for the VST2 so you still need the VST2 installed even if KK is using VST3. However for most of them the VST3 NKS do work as long as the VST2 plugins are also installed

This is true for the factory presets but not for the user made ones.
All the posted above NKS presets can work fine, without the need for the VST2 version.
And if someone is interesting to re-save the factory presets by using the VST3 version, those presets will also not need the VST2 version.0 -
It’s the plugins that need the VST2 installed, as I said this isn’t about NKS. The VST3 plugins are wrappers for the VST2 and do not load without the VST2. Try deleting the VST2s and you will see

I deleted the VST2's long ago. I can use all the above NKS with the VST3 version without a problem.
For all the rest, i do as this: R.B. Plugins have thousands presets and i have no mood to sit and save them all. So, i use the VST3 version in Cubase, without Komplete Kontrol. Every time that i choose a sound and i am sure that i want to use it in my music, i go and save as NKS only this specific preset, and then, load it through KK.
A technical note:
At least on Windows, VST2 versions, are also wrappers!
You will notice that both, VST2 and VST3 versions are very small, just 2-3 megabytes each.
Because they are both wrappers.
The real files (.dll), the ones that both versions rely to, are much much bigger (Predator3 is 127 megabytes) and they are placed not in the VST directories but in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Rob Papen\plugin_name!
Those are the really necessary files, if one is missing, then no matter if you load VST2 or VST3, nothing is loading.0 -
Maybe this is different on Mac then, on Mac if you delete the VST2 folder none of the VST3 instruments open. But the NKS from Rob Papen work with VST3 already for most of them (just a couple that don't migrate)
