Many Kontakt libraries suddenly removed from Kontakt 6, sessions broken!

a quick update - it seems that other than opening Native Access, some process, I think a windows service that is running, also updates the XML to the 'latest' version and therefore overwrites the working replacement file. Just be aware and have the working file to hand to replace again if it gets overwritten. Seems a bit of a fudge to be fair, I'd rather the 'real' XML delivered by the NA client allowed the synths to work under Kontakt 6 Player

    Same problem here!
Currently working on a project where one instrument from Ethereal Earth is the MAIN element of my score.
My sessions said files are missing, and the entire plug-ins (with Hybrid Keys, and the rest) are INVISIBLES from Kontakt 6. For no reason.
They are existing on Kontakt 7 but I never use it, as I prefer the Kontakt 6.

I tried many options but it seems like I cannot do anything, I really feel like its gonna be completely lost.
Can someone help me on this please ?

    Thank you

Chiming in in here, I have the same problem right now. Many Libraries disappeared from Kontakt 6 but are available in Kontakt 7. I have to recall a project from 2021 and the instances of Kontakt 6 cannot open due to "missing content", mainly applying to PLAY SERIES intruments. Any updates on this?

    Thanks!

I am having the same issue. All of my Kontakt 6.8 full version instances on previously saved sessions worked then it seems after native access updated to the latest version all my sessions can't find the files to libraries like session sunburst deluxe, acoustic picked and Noir. Kontakt 6.8 then opens in demo mode with incomplete graphics. The requirement for Kontakt 7 for these libraries previously did not affect sessions created and saved with 6.8 full version. Now suddenly they are all broken.

Exactly this is happening to me and It really can't be the solution that library updates break backward compatibility. Please @Jeremy_NI chime in :)

@EMH @benmuetsch So this hapened without updating/downgrading these libraries? Can you post screenshots of the versions showed for these libraries in Native Access? Also a screenshot of the avalibale updates in Native Access will be helpful.

I have the full version of kontakt 6.8 and the kontakt 7 player. This seems to be affecting only the libraries like session guitarist deluxe, session picked guitar, noir and others that I previously updated to kontakt 7 a long time ago. At the time I came to understand that these would have to be opened in Kontakt 7 moving forward but that all of my previously saved sessions in 6.8 would continue to open in 6.8. And they did for a year with no problems. This issue just started after Native access updated to the latest version of native access. There seems to be some sort of activation issue of those libraries in 6.8 now because a prompt shows up also saying there is an activation issue. I have done some research and others have encountered the exact same problem after either updating Native Access or opening it as the new version for the first time. Seems Native access has done something with .xml files that breaks the authorization and/or directories of those libraries in previous 6.8 versions of Kontakt. I saw some people have had success by reverting back to the earlier version of Native Access. Others have added an xml file for each library that was broken into the Service center folder of their Mac and that fixed it. Not sure how this all works but I hope this can help you figure out why all my sessions saved with Kontakt 6.8 no longer work suddenly and the only thing that changed as far as I have observed was Native Access. It also could be that the change in native access is now making it look for the libraries the way Kontakt 7 would, not Kontakt 6.8?... I don't know. I didn't change anything in my setting or files. If you think reverting back to the previous native access I had would fix I would need to know the exact process of how to do that. If I need to add the 6.8 xml files for session guitar deluxe, picked guitar and noir I can do that but I need the xml files that would fix it. Im hoping this provides insight into exactly what caused the problem and how to fix it. With this info you may have a completely different solution idk but I hope it helps. Thanks so much for looking into this 🙏

@Jeremy_NI I unfortunately did update to the latest library versions and would never have thought that this would break backwards compatibility with K6 for existing sessions. Unfortunately my DAW Ableton Live does not support the auto-migration feature.

My problems are exactly like the ones @EMH has. Older sessions from two years ago containing KONTAKT 6 instances tell "unable to load, content missing", if I then try to open the corresponding intrument manually it loads in DEMO mode with missing graphics and samples.

    Screenshots from my Native Access:

@benmuetsch so you simply need to install the previous versions of the libraries in this article: Previous versions of recently updated Kontakt libraries / compatibility with K6 older libraries

@Jeremy_NI that would probably be the solution but maybe then some of my newer projects won't open correctly or maybe sound different and to stay on old libraries seems like not very future proof to me tbh.

Also this will create kind of a mess because those installers are standalone installers which will not follow my Native Access installation path conventions so the libraries will be all over the place if I'm not moving them around and all in all this really screams for other problems.

An ideal solution would be either:

    a) make those for K7 updated libraries backwards compatible

    b) at least integrate older installers into Native Access so that we can downgrad specific products when needed without messing with seperate single dmg installers and manual moving of libraries.

Please, that would be so nice. We all paid for our plugins and libraries and the situation now is not very satisfying. 😶😥

@Jeremy_NI So then will installing the previous versions downgrade the library then break any sessions created with the new Kontakt 7 player versions? The cause of this problem cant simply be the libraries or it wouldn't have continued to work on previously saved sessions of 6.8 for over a year. So I'm wondering if there is any better solution to this new problem. I have the full version of kontakt 6.8 and the kontakt 7 player. It seems to be affecting only the libraries like session guitarist deluxe, session picked guitar, noir and others that I previously updated to kontakt 7 a long time ago. At the time I came to understand that these would have to be opened in Kontakt 7 moving forward but that all of my previously saved sessions in 6.8 would continue to open in 6.8 . I didn't change anything in my setting or files. Im hoping this provides insight into exactly what caused the problem and how to fix what recently changed without having to downgrade the libraries and potentially introduce more problems. With this info you may have a completely different solution idk but I hope it helps. Thanks so much for looking into this Jeremy.

Interesting to see this still happening to others. I found the ultimate solution: Stop buying NI products, so that you never have to launch Native Access. I appreciate the help from Jeremy, EvilDragon, and all the support team members. But for the product team I reserve the harshest criticism. Even a 5-year-old could figure out that libraries released while K6 was the latest version of Kontakt should never have been updated to bring their minimum required version to K7. If anything, the new features should have been added to K6 as well as K7 so that the Komplete Kontrol features that have been added recently wouldn't conflict with its minimum required version. But, I guess that would highlight the fact that Kontakt 7 is a meaningless release with no worthy features of its own - just a browser and high DPI, and said Komplete Kontrol compatibility features, and so they had to be stubbornly withheld from K6. Now here we are, and the geniuses at NI can't maintain a simple list that tells Native Access which versions of which libraries work in which versions of Kontakt. Bit of a problem when that list can take away your ability to access libraries that you purchased and own a license for, in a sampler that you purchased and own a license for, in saved sessions that your entire career could possibly depend on.

I have the same problem. Cubase 13 projects can no longer be opened because Kontakt 7 suddenly can no longer find the library content of various "Session Guitarists". When selecting the "Browse for Folder" function, the instruments then open as an incomplete demo and Cubase freezes. In order to be able to continue working somehow, I've been overcoming this problem with Jeremy's "NativeAccess.xml" file for weeks. However, a newly purchased "Acoustic Sunburst Deluxe" is no longer displayed. If this problem is unsolvable for NI, I think it is time to communicate this to their customers so that they can draw their conclusions. Greetings Michael
