Smart Playlists?

I know im very late to the smart playlists train, but i'm a big beliver that "if it ain't broken dont fix it" when it comes to computers for work, so if my current setup is working fine, I'm very reluctant to update.

I've been finally forced to update my traktor software because i need to play with CDJ 3000 in HDI, and the traktor version i was using all these years doesn't support that.

Long story short, i didn't have smart playlists before and am exploring it now.

Before Smart Playlists i would query the search box with AND and OR operators like, if i wanna search "DANCE" songs "EDM" songs and "HipHop" songs but just songs sang in Portuguese for example, I would search " DANCE | EDM | HipHop Portuguese " and I would have a "smart playlist" done in that moment.

I can't seam to find a way to use OR and AND operators in smart playlists so it seams very restrictive…

Any thoughts?

    Yes, they are indeed very restrictive. They are reluctant to change it because they think it would clutter up the UI :))))

    I did not know you can use AND and OR operators in the search. Neat 📸

    It looks like you can only use AND on all conditions (by checking the "Match All Conditions" checbox) or use OR for all conditions (by keeping the box unchecked).

    So you can do: Genre is DANCE | Genre is EDM | Genre is HipHop Portuguese (box unchecked)

    or: Genre is DANCE & Genre is EDM & Genre is HipHop Portuguese (box checked)

    Still waiting for a more flexible smart list. Should be useful tu add the possibility to combine the "operator" "and" and "or". It's crazy the way Native Istrument thinks the good thungs and always badly implment it.

    You might wait a while, as they already said they don't want to implement mixing AND and OR.

    Thank you for your feedback. I hope they will change idea. Smart list are really great, just a little upgrade would rate it perfect.

    So.. i still gotta use the AND OR on the basic search :/

    Bumping this. It's wild that in 2024 these features aren't standard in 'smart' playlists.

    +1. Really no excuse for not having AT LEAST the same functionality as iTunes on this.

    And we are back to this although this post also relates to key matching, the boolean logic required is a basic and fundamental core in programming…

    Seems this has been closed for upvotes last time I checked, since Traktor 4.0. I't may have become open again for upvotes.
