Edit: I thought of s4 mk3, do you mean s4 mk1? That will still work with tp3, but will not work on modern Mac os. Windows should be fine. mk2 and mk3 will also work with mac os.

Its a Mk3 on a Windows 10 machine. I'm referring to whether the hardware serial is required in order that the software will pick up the hardware, the serial already having been registered. This isn't a compatibility query as such :)

No, my S4 Mk3 worked out of the box with my existing Traktor Pro installation without registering the hardware.
