S4 MK3.. MIC/AUX INPUT!?

Hi, Im trying to connect my shure SM58 Mic to my S4 MK3 controller for my DJ live streams…But I've ran into a problem in terms of connecting the mic so thats its independent of the 4 channels which I intent to use simultaneously. I have attached a screenshot from NI, that suggests this cannot be done on the S4 and HAS to be activated via either the

C or D channel and routed via these channels in the input routing settings. WHY? Surely there is a work-around for this, as I need to use the 4 Decks/channels independently of the mic!!!

Any help appreciated.

Ok so I've reinstalled Traktor and re-updated the controller firmware.. Finally the Mic is now being picked up on the AUX input of Deck C or D🥳👌 BUT, the sound is very very low. I cannot hear myself over a playing track? I have maxed out the AUX volume but this hasn't really done anything. The mic I am using has a 600 ohm output impedance..is this the reason as to why Mic level is so low? If so, what is the recommended type of mic / ohm, that will 100% work.

You can use the mic c input independently from Deck C, but not from input C.

Do you need to run 4 decks or 4 live inputs?

I need to run 4 decks and then have the mic running also, but not as a live input on one of the channels / decks.. I need it to run via the AUX input so that I can mix with 4 decks and not have the mic sound in my hesdphones while mixing.

As suggested by the setup guide, the S4 MK3 shares its Mic inputs with either channel C / D channel input.. which means you have to change one of those channels via the SHIFT & EXT for the Mic input thus not allowing the use of 4 decks and the Mic independently? This is what im trying to get around as it doesn't seem possible to have all 4 decks and the mic working at the same time🤔

Shift + ext will just active the mic pre amp, it does not change the deck to live input.

Yeah, I had the same issue with a shure mic. Switching to t.bone MB55 helped. It's still somewhat quiet.

The text shown in the first post explains how the hardware works, and you seem to be aware of this, so…?

Of course the level will be low when using a mic on an aux input because that's line level. It's not possible to use a mic and also run music from Traktor on all four channels with the equipment you have.

As it's for streaming, I'd suggest routing your mic separately to you computer via a USB mixer.

Clearly (based on text shown) Native Instruments says it's not, so are you saying NI are wrong?

You said yourself that the signal is quiet. If it's "possible" then why is it quiet?

How would i go about routing it through a usb mixer and can you recommend a product that you know works for this instance?

The text just says you can't use line input D and mic input D at the same time.

The sound level is the same when you route it to a deck at 0 trim.

The mic pre amp is unrelated to if you route it to deck or aux. It helps to route it to a deck, as you can add gain in software.

What exactly do you want to do? Stream to a website like twitch/youtube with OBS?

In that case any USB mic would work.

It's a little clearer to me now, having just read the article.

It seems the mic gets routed through the software using the aux route, so may possibly introduce latency, not be controllable from the S4 hardware (volume, EQ etc) and, based on comments here, not have enough gain.

Best then IMO to run the mic separately through a dedicated mixer, to provide enough volume, EQ etc.
