Native Access - Won't install instrument updates and I can't update Native Access either

I am using Native Access 1.14.1 on Windows 10. It shows that there are updates available, but when I try any update, it downloads the files, but fails on installation. The message simply says Install Failed… an error occured running the installer.

I have tried to update Native Access, but this won't work either. The installer for Native Access 2 fails as it says it can't uninstall the previous version. If I try to uninstall it manually through Windows, this fails too.

I have just bought an M32 keyboard, so I want to update Komplete Kontrol and all my other many NI products. I see a couple of existing questions and threads on this topic describing similar problems, but none offers a solution. PLEASE HELP.

Solution for that usually is this (run both installers as an Admin) :

First download and install the Legacy installer from here then reboot computer

After that then install latest version of Native Access for your OS

I hope that that works .

(Please notice that if that does not work then it might take some extra cleaning to remove the traces of the Legacy versions)

Also , if the above does not work then try to turn off your Antivirus and then try the above again.

And that doesn't work either then first uninstall the Native Access and NTKDaemon using Windows uninstaller and then run the N.I. reg tool to remove any left overs in registry from both Native Access and from NTKdaemon. And then try the above again.

Thank you; unfortunately, when I run the installer for the legacy version of Native Access, I get the same error that I get trying to install or uninstall anything else from NI:

Runtime error in install: Error reading LicenseText_ALT.Lines.Strings: RichEdit line insertion error

Runtime error in install: Error reading LicenseText_ALT.Lines.Strings: RichEdit line insertion error

I see a couple of existing questions and threads on this topic describing similar problems

Last person to mention that error reported : "Problem now solved, it was corrupt files in my windows system. I ran
DIsm then a sfc scannow and this repaired the relevant corrupt files."

This to me suggests that there are something wrong with your Windows installation. Could be malware or virus , at least it is not something normal. Could also be that you have some damaged file or sys files of some kind.

Also , are your OS non-English , if so what ? Or are you running the installation in a Virtual Machine ?

To start with then try these two to make sure that your installation appear to be OK.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

Then try the installation of old N.A. and new N.A. as an Administrator.

Thank you, I really appreciate the quick responses here. I'll try what you have suggested (as far as my technical ability will allow!) and I'll report back.

It works! Thank you so much to PoorFellow for your help. I followed your advice to use the System File Checker tool. It revealed a problem with one file, Riched20.DLL . I found advice elsewhere on how to fix Riched20.dll . (This site won't let me post the link because I'm an unproven newbie, but a quick search will find it).

I just followed the instructions without knowing the details of what I was doing, but I think it was to do with granting access or permissions or something. Anyway - it worked and now all my NI stuff updates through Native Access.

Once again, thank you! I was quite pessimistic but now I'm delighted.
