"This Instrument belongs to a library that is not installed currently". Help Please

OK, I have been a Kontakt user for a number of years. I have built a great multi that receives midi data from Cakewalk and then plays through my Presonus board. all good.

Over the years I've bought new laptops and installed Kontakt using my library of samples.

It has always worked like a charm. I just got a new laptop Windows 11 and have done everything like I've done in the past, but I keep getting a message in Kontakt when trying to load my multi.

It says, "This Instrument belongs to a library that is not installed currently".

I have used Native Access 2 to download Kontakt 5, 6, and 7 and all my libraries and I have entered all the serial numbers and checked for updates and even did a batch re scan. All my samples are right where they have always been in my Public Documents. I went through every folder and all the sample folders are good. I found a page in the forum were they gave a couple suggestions and tried those and still am getting the message. I have a few other laptops and this multi works just fine in all those. Everything on this new laptop seems to match up with my other laptops which work fine.

I did uninstall and reinstalled Kontakt 7, even tried Kontakt's 5 and 6

Anyone out there that has had this issue and found a fix, help please.

@Ron Rutz Can you check if it loads with the same error in Kontakt in standalone? Can you see what instrument or library could trigger that in the multi? How many instruments do you have in this multi? Maybe if you have time you can try to load the instruments of this multi as single instruments in Kontakt, see if you can find the culprit and that might lead us to the source of the issue.

I only use standalone version, I have multiple instruments that I use. I have 14 banks, each bank has many instruments in them. Using a virtual midi cable I send midi data from my DAW into Kontakt and do this for live performing. Quick scenario's, Bank 1 holds all my bass guitars, around 15 and that bank receives data from midi channel one from my DAW and is routed to channel 3 on my PreSonus board, bank 2 are my drum sets around 5 and that bank receives data from midi channel 10 from my DAW and is routed to channel 4 on my PreSonus board, and so on. banks 3-9 and 11-14 are loaded with sampled instruments as well. It seems like the culprit could possibly be my old NI library Bandstand. Again I have been using Bandstand in Kontakt for years and Native Access does take the serial number. Any word on a work around if this is acting up someway? I understand it's a dated product and it may no longer be a supported product but possibly you've heard something. Bandstand instruments are really good and are the center of my collection. That collection is very important to me, to try and switch it our would take weeks having over 600 songs. Keep in mind, I have installed this very system in new laptops several times over the years and this has always worked flawless, could there be a caught as this is the first time using Native Access 2 and the first time using Window 11 Pro 64-bit. Thanks Jeremy, I appreciate you helping me troubleshoot.

This could also be a Windows 11 or third party security program access security problem ! (or 'security' measures screwing up installation of something).

I do not have Windows 11 myself so I don't know much about Win 11. So all I can come up with and maybe not going to help is to suggest that you could still check the Allow an app to access controlled folders to see if that helps.

Also from my experience here then using more versions of Kontakt at the same time appear to be a recipe for problems at one time or another ! (not criticizing just saying !)

    P.S.

Since it all obviously is very important to you then taking full back up of computer setups that actually do work ought to be your priority number one !

Thanks for the additional information. Yes, it's very likely that Bandstand is the culprit here, I'm not sure if it's still possible to activate the product since ServiceCenter was discontinued a couple of years ago. I'm going to check with one of my colleagues that has a good knowledge on this kind of things and will get back to you here.

One thing to check. In Native Access, make sure this box is ticked:

My colleague got back to me with the following, not guaranteed to work 100%

    Install Kontakt 5.6.6:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CCsX2u_06iLT4x_m6FLNLPBHL75Tq0Yt/view?usp=drive_link

Open K5.6.6 and press the "Add Library" button in the Libraries tab

    Add the Bandstand Library

    Restart NA and press refresh

Even without being visible in NA it should activate the library...theoretically

Then update Kontakt to 5.8.1 or use Kontakt 6.8.0 or 7.9.0 with the classic Library view to check if the Bandstand Library appears listedIf it does then loading the multi should work too...theoretically.

    Did that work out?

let me try that today, I believe it could be some form of encryption issue in Windows 11, I remember having to step back a version of Kontakt right around the time Native Access replaced the Service Center but since then i have been able to get it working on a laptop I got last fall with Kontakt 7 which i need for some more current instruments, so I will try your suggestion which is a really good idea but could you also ask around if in fact it could be a Windows 11 encryption issue, thank you Jeremy for all your help.

Jeremy that did not work, i did see the bandstand library installed when i went to preferences in Native Access and clicked that Legacy Product tab, I am really thinking it is an encryption issue in Windows 11

Possibly you can check with colleagues once again regarding Win 11 using, when trying to do a batch resave i get this message,

“This patch is encrypted and cannot be loaded unless the respective library is registered properly”

Then if i try to load the first instrument 001 Piano it says

”The instrument belongs to a library that is not installed currently”

Probably won’t help you but just in case, I had a very similar issue after reinstalling windows (10 not 11)

The instrument showed up fine, but when trying to open it, I got a similar (might have been the same) message.

Turns out I needed another piece of software installed, not near PC and can’t remember what company it was so I’ll use UVI as a made up example. I was trying to load a UVI instrument but as I hadn’t installed “UVI Workstation” while the UVI instruments were installed, there was nothing to actually play them on.

Once “UVI Workstation” was installed, the instruments loaded perfectly
