Requirements are rather low , this is what it says :

    Quote specifications :

Kontrol comes with a USB-C cable. It is bus-powered meaning the USB cable draws power directly from your computer, so there’s no need for an additional power supply. If your computer does not have a USB-C port, you can use your own USB adapter and power supply.

Use the adapter to connect the provided USB-C cable from the keyboard’s HOST port to your computer’s USB-A port. Then connect a USB-C power supply (5V, 7.5W or higher, 1.5A or higher) to the keyboard’s USB-C power supply port.

Check the manual for more information.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Power adapters with USB C PD (power delivery) often are capable of delivering much more power since some of them are also directed at powering other 'mobile' units !

@CHRIS HUME Some Knowledge Base articles about that are on their way. In the meantime, These are the PSU specs you need: A USB-C power supply (5 V, 7.5 W or higher, 1.5 A or higher) with its own USB-C cable.

It goes into the power socket in the wall - and the USB-C cable goes into the "Power" socket of the keyboard. If his computer doesn't have a USB-C port, you'll need a USB cable C-A to connect the keyboard (C) with the computer (A). You have to make sure that the cable can transfer data - and is not only transmitting power.

seems a bit stupid launching an all singing and dancing product then we got to wait for a power supply !!

My keyboard arrived yesterday set it up all excited and....................... (see below)

sorry but all this 5 V, 7.5 W or higher, 1.5 A or higher doesn't mean anything to a thicko like me - just point me to a suitable power supply I can get from amazon UK that will work- I want to delve into my new gear but looks like I gotta wait

Comig late to the party, I was iout, in the meantime, this article was released: Kontrol S-Series MK3: "You're low on power. Please connect a USB-C power supply"

This is typical Native instruments. Launching a product aimed at professionals that needs a power supply and then not supplying a power supply. This is a £1000K product FFS. Unless you have your keyboard within 2 feet of your computer (unlikely) the bus power is nonsense. It's like they go out of their way to piss customers off!

@Chris W That's the whole idea behind using USB-C though - to save waste (from companies shipping PSUs with everything).

My recently purchased iPhone didn't come with a charger - the idea being that you use one of your existing chargers.

I've already got huge numbers of "wall wart" power supplies in this house, of various voltages, current, AC, DC, positive centre, negative centre, barrel size, connector type..... IMO it's nice to have something generic for a change.

    Gimmicky Trash.

"Kontrol comes with a USB-C cable."

No it doesn't. Just bought on brand new S88 mkiii and there was no cable, no manual, no "quick start" card - nothing except for a cardboard box and a keyboard. I went out and bought a USB C cable it says "low power", etc. ****** NI? Are you trying to destroy your brand? So now I either have to order a power supply or use one of my Mac Thunderbolt ports for your keyboard? ******???????

The links above don't reference what they claim. One is to a charger that requires you buy a separate USB-C cable. The other is to a charger that is for a pixel book with extra USBA ports. There is also no guarantee these will work. What if you want to use the keyboard as a midi controller away from your computer? You have to buy its own power supply? I don't understand what they are thinking.

Maybe you should question the source you bought it from. I bought mine direct from NI in January with all of that stuff enclosed. It doesn't include a power adapter and specifies that it doesn't and that you need to buy one if your USB port doesn't supply adequate power.

Are you trying to destroy your brand as an informed and competent shopper?

I'm unable to post a link, support won't email me back and thus there is no way to confirm if a specific charger purchased an Amazon will work.

Do Apple power bricks work? Can I use one of the ones I have? How do I know how many watts or amps these are? Will it damage the keyboard if I have too few watts? Too many (does "or more" mean the sky's the limit)?

I bought it from Guitar Center.

    • If all these troubleshooting steps did not help, please use a USB-C power supply (5 V, 7.5 W or higher, 1.5 A or higher) with its own USB-C cable. These are the specs for a regular USB-C charger that you might have along with your smartphone.

Does this mean I can use an iPhone brick to power the S88?

" It doesn't include a power adapter and specifies that it doesn't…. "

Not on the box. It's a "surprise" you get when you get it home. The box nor the pre-sales description specifics that "POWER SUPPLY NOT INCLUDED". A "competent shopper"???

    Sweetwater:

    "Power Supply: USB bus powered"

It's not tho. If you have a Mac it eats a Thunderbolt port - not just a USB port.

Check in the styrofoam blocks in the MK3 box. The cable is there. I don't remember anything about a manual being promised.
