Noire having lots of static and white noise
Has noire been glitchy for anyone else? When I preview the presets the volume of the preview is like 20x louder than any other instrument and it blows my monitors, even with the fader in my daw down and my monitors have to be almost off, then I load an instrument and it’s so quite I need to turn them back to normal volume, and I get a ton static/white noise. The keys also make a weird sound when played, almost a hollow clicking sound.
this does not happen only any other instrument or instrument preview so I find I really weird it’s just noire. I’m using pro tools as my DAW on a Mac M1 with s88 mk3 keyboard.
thanks!

Regarding the volume of the previews, you can change it bottom left on the window:
Now, for the issue in Noire, does it behave the same in Kontakt in standalone?
Did you install Noire on an external hard drive? What format is that drive? It should be APFS: Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

Hi thanks for the response!
it does have the correct format! I will try it in stand alone today to see if it continues to do that. I’m using an external hard drive, crucial NVMe with Sabrent thunderbolt enclosure on Mac M1!

@NickVegas crucial NVMe with Sabrent thunderbolt enclosure on Mac M1 does not tell us what format is the drive. Right click the drive and choose Get Info and you will see what's the format of the drive.

Hello @Jeremy_NI
it looks like my drive is formatted to exFAT. Is there a way to convert it to APFS without erasing the drive and reformatting it? It took a really long time to download the ultimate library on it.
i went to disk utilities and clicked edit to convert to APFS but the option was greyed out.
thanks

Oh yeah and one more thing I’m running MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1

@NickVegas There's no way around it, you have to reformat the drive with your Disk Utility, this means deleting everything that's on it.

@Jeremy_NI I was afraid of that.
if everything else worked fine and it was just noire, do you think it’s a a absolutely necessary?
and if it is, I only have my NI library on it, so would I have to do anything before erasing or could I just erase and have Native Access automatically update and just re download things?

@NickVegas Unfortunately, yes, this is absolutely necessary. You'll see the difference after the reformat. You'll only need to erase/reformat and then reinstall everything again with Native Access. If you have some space somewhere you could copy the files and put them back, then relocate with Native Access.

@Jeremy_NI thanks for the help!
any advice on a process? I don’t have another drive big enough to clone it, any online methods or anything else? Or am I stuck just erasing and redownloading?
and any advice on the re download procedure? I did apps first, then instruments one by one, then expansions. It did take me a good couple days to do everything.

No, unfortunately, there's no other way. For the re-installation process, there's no real good or bad way to do it. I would avoid the install all button, maybe install a few instruments at a time. Going like you did, apps then libraries then expansions seems to be a good idea.
