HELP! Projects not loading Komplete Kontrol Instrument (patch)

So just tried opening a Cubase 12 Pro project from approx 12 months ago. All the tracks load without issue. However every single occurrence of KK does not play.

all other tracks by other VST instrument vendors are fine.

when I open the instance of each KK it is not loading the instrument or patch.

this is the same with ALL of my older projects. Any newer ones work fine.

i feel like KK has updated and anything created before the update isn’t loading the instrument and patch. This has screwed up dozens, perhaps hundred of my slightly older songs and ideas. Has anyone else had this and how do I fix it?

    Do you get an error message when you try to load the instrument inside KK? Normally I'd suggest rolling back to a previous version of KK, but if KK is loading ok there might be another problem there.

    Hi, no error message at all. However I have downgraded to 2.96 (i think) and all that fixes the issue.

    Unsure what I am missing out on by downgrading. I wouldnt like to think I can never update KK again.

    Can an NI rep answer this or should I raise a concern with them.

    @maax555 Are you using the VST2 version of Komplete Kontrol in Cubase? Komplete Kontrol 3.0 dropped VST2 support and is only available as VST3. I would assume that's what happened here.

    Since Steinberg stopped VST2 support, we'd recommend to switch to VST3.
