Komplete Kontrol VST2 missing after 3.0.0 update

Hello everyone..
So, how can we use the Komplete Kontrol in Ableton 11 after all?
Thanks in advance.

It's nice to see, how this upgrade ****** up hundreds of my project. The best is, that for tracks using Komplete Kontrol I don't even know anymore which vst I used.

I've been trying to make a VST3 .adg but the way Ableton Live assigns parameters is making it hard. In most hosts you can see a list of all params available for automation, including any that are not visible (ie not assigned to a knob, switch or Button) but in Live. The param that the .adg needs for Komplete Kontrol is this one (this is the AU version):
But since I can't 'learn' that param in Ableton I can't see how to map it unless anyone knows a trick to get Live to show all available params (maybe there is a Max4Live script that does this?)
The param is definitely there in the VST3 version of KK3 because I can see it in Bitwig which has a much better param assignment system

I am still migrating my projects to vst3 so i removed KK 3 from my PC-and installed KK 2.9, so i can't test it with Version 3.
BUT: With installation of KK 2.9 you will find the .adg in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Host Integration\Ableton Live
... so if you install KK V3 - perhaps you will find an updated .adg in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Host Integration\Ableton Live ...?
I am curios - do we still need the .adg with Ableton 11/2 and KK 3....??

No there is no updated adg which is why I was trying to make one, but just out of curiosity really. I wanted to see if it really is needed these days. Personally I’ve never needed it even on VST2

I have now installed both versions of KK (3.10 and 2.96) according to the official NI-instructions.
As expected, Cubase 12 continues to load the more recent KK3 version, which is then empty.
This means that old projects with KK2 are lost. Very unfortunate.
The only way is to forego the new version KK3, but that's not a solution either.

Here, try this one:
It works for my system but not sure it works for others. In case it doesn't work here's how you can try to make one:
ADG is just a zipped XML, so you can just change the file name extension to .zip and unzip it, do that a copy of the old KK .ADG's in
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Host Integration > Ableton Live
Open KK normally in Ableton, Group it so it's an Instrument Rack and save it as an .ADG, then do the same trick to unzip it.
Now you can compare the two files in a text editor (preferably a good one), and copy/edit any relevant parts to force your custom adg to have the NIKB00 thingy, unfortunately I don't quite remember what I changed to achieve it tbh, it was a bunch of trial and error attempts. After the changes you have to zip it again and change the extension back to .adg
Putting out there just for the sake of information but...
I think not, afaik .ADG's were required with KKS mk1 so that the keyboard would automatically recognize and connect to KK-Plug when it was on a freshly activated Track... I could be wrong tho, it's been a while.

Thanks - wondering what the hidden NIKB00 param actually does?

Hi @Kymeia ,
please open youtube and search "Komplete Kontrol & Ableton Live Macro Control" - a video by @JesterMgee . There you can see the original explanation why someone should use this .adg in Ableton Live. ( i can't post links here...).
Now i tried with Ableton 11 Suite and S61 MK2 Keyboard with VST3 Komplete Kontrol plugin:
I have no issues. If a track got armed - it activates the "right" komplete kontrol (sitting on the armed track).
I can click on the master, push "Mixer" on my keyboard, can navigate the tracks with the joystick. I can use the transport buttons.
Also i can record chords and arps on another miditrack (i create an empty MIDI Track and choose a miditrack with KK on it as INPUT and choose "Komplete Kontrol" instead of "Pre FX, Post FX".
Of course you should have this setup in your midi, its important to select the "DAW - 1" for INPUT and OUTPUT to get the full control/integration:
- Surface: Komplete Kontrol S Mk2
- Input Komplete Kontrol DAW - 1
- Output Komplete Kontrol DAW - 1
Keep the groove!

Jester’s video was for MkI keyboards though

Hi,
I also have the problem, that all of my older projects won't load properly into Cubase 12 with Komplete Kontrol 3.1.1. Same with Cubase 11. (All Komplete-Kontrol-tracks in a project remain silent, though I am not sure if they really all include VST2 instruments. All the u-he stuff should be VST3 compatible, also Kontakt is.)
I noticed the problem because I want to publish my music and therefore need to export it in 24 bit format. This I cannot do now. From the discussion above I understood that I have the option to downgrade to Version 2.9.6.
But my question is: When will there be a compatible version? The problem seems to be old and still the only option is a downgrade? (As I understood having both versions on the PC is possible, but Cubase will still chose the new version for old projects and thus will not be able to load them correctly, right?)
90% of my music are projects with Komplete Kontrol 2.9.6 or older. So this is a big issue for me.

Try adding the VST2 path to KK and rescan plugins to see if it then finds your missing plugins. Also if you are on Mx Mac you will need to be in Rosetta mode for VST2 plugins to load in KK

Thanks for your reply Kymeia, but this folder already is among those that are scanned by Komplete Kontrol.
I am on Windows 10 and using Cubase 12 Pro. Never had a problem with that setup until now and I assume that the cause is the newer Komplete Kontrol Version. If downgrading does the job: Fine. But if we get a working version, I can wait two more weeks.
If not, I would do the downgrade and probably never upgrade. I want to be able to load my old tracks. (Old means: Maybe up to four years and younger. Before that I did not use Komplete Kontrol and thus have no problems loading the tracks. I admit: I was not looking closely enough. My used u-he Diva Version indeed was the VST2 though VST3 is installed. But I was not aware of a VST2 Version of Kontakt. At least I did not find it. Still the Komplete Kontrol instances that should include Kontakt instruments are empty now.)
But thanks again for your help. Very much appreciated.

That's good to know but can you also then confirm that the plugins KK is missing in projects are actually loading into KK3 (and in the right plugin format) - they are just not being found by loading the project?
Maybe to troubleshoot this if you do downgrade, take note of what each project contains including the plugin format, then if you do try KK3 again at a later date you can be clear about exactly what is missing or not
