Clarification regarding selling hardware and software
Apologies if this has been asked a million times...
A little while back I purchased a Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 (black colour) with bundled (physical hard drive) software upgrade - the next upgrade from 13 select, the keyboard had a cosmetic blemish and I returned it for a replacement, the store advised me to hang on to the hard drive software and told me to just return the keyboard which they then replaced
A few weeks later the limited addition vapour grey colour S61 MK2 became available and I decided to purchase one with just 13 select. I now want to sell the black colour S61 MK2... Will the buyer be entitled to the upgraded software? And do I get to keep the upgraded software too? ... obviously if the buyer will receive the upgraded software then I can charge a higher price.
Thank you for your help

If you bought your 1st keyboard bundled with a SW upgrade then you bought a crossgrade.
No, he would not be entitled to it, you can choose. You can sell the 1st (black) S61 MK2 with or without the crossgrade/KK-Upgrade:
- If you sell with the crossgrade/upgrade then you lose Komplete 13, therefore you will only own K13 select.
- If you sell without the crossgrade/upgrade the buyer will have K-Select and you can still use K13 because you own a "qualifying product" (the white S61).
To sell it without you can't use the automated process on the website (at least not the last time I sold something). So you have to ask tech support to give you a transfer ID only for the 1st black S61 MK2, explain you ant to keep the crossgrade because you own another keyboard.
If I understood correctly he bought a crossgrade to Komplete 13 from K Select 13, which is an additional expense and therefore it's OK to charge more. Charging more for K-Select is not a thing, since you can't separate it from the HW license anyway...

Since you bought it all together, then yes, the buyer must get the software too.
...at the same price, as you also got it when you bought it, and not higher,
of course this is totally up to you, i just say that it is not much "ethical" to charge for something you got for free (because you bought the hardware) ..but this is also depending on the price you sell, i.e. if you sell half price, is no harm to sell a bit more expensive i guess
however, because this is a delicate matter, i advice you to contact NI Support, instead asking here, because there is a small chance that i can be wrong on something :-)

Sunborn, thank you for your reply much appreciated
I only require clarification regarding if the buyer will be entitled to the upgraded software and if I also get to keep the upgraded software too, I really don't need a lesson in what is ethical. I didn't get anything for free ...I paid full price for the keyboard bundle. When I advertise it for sale with the upgraded software ...I wouldn't like to find out that the buyer only received Komplete 13 Select when they had paid for the upgraded software that I advertise as I don't want to short change anybody. Whoever buys the keyboard with upgraded software will be getting it for a far lower price than I paid, even though the hardware is in new condition ...I certainly wouldn't advertise it for the same price as I paid when buyers can purchase the same product from reputable trusted stores ...and also due to the fact that the Komplete Kontrol S61 MK3 is now available. Nobody in their right mind would pay the full price that I paid myself, and they certainly wouldn't pay any higher.
With very best regards

D-One, thank you for your reply, very much appreciated, thanks for providing me with that information ...very helpful. I think I made a mistake using the word upgrade, when I purchased the S61 MK2, I purchased it with Komplete Kontrol 13 (not select) I was not a Native Instruments user before making that purchase, so I have the full version of Komplete 13 ...as far as I am aware.
Very best regards
