How to play a Drumkit Group in Maschine+ properly with a MIDI Drumpad?

I tried to connect two MIDI controllers to play different groups in different channels, such as a Poly Synth in one channel with MIDI controller A, a bass synth with MIDI controller B, and a Roland SPD-S via MIDI to play a Drumkit Group.

It's possible to do so, but there's a catch when playing the drumkit. The drumkit group needs to be selected, in order to trigger the Maschine+ sounds with the SPD-S in it's corresponding MIDI Note.

Although it's possible, it's a bummer if we want to change the cutoff (not a macro) in the bass synth, simply because we need to select the bass synth group, and when we do so, the drumkit part/bank stops receiving MIDI. All groups receive MIDI without the need to be selected, only a group with a drumkit option on has this strange problem.

Does anyone know a workaround? I also noticed that any MIDI controller plays the drumkit group, when selected, in it's corresponding octave. It looks like there's some kind of MIDI filtering that I am not able to perform and can't find a solution on the manual.

The idea is to use the Maschine+ as the main sound source for a Band, four mates playing different parts/groups with splits with 4 MIDI controllers, and a drummer with the SPD-S via MIDI. Theorically it would be Amazing.

Did you set up your MIDI controllers like instructed in this video? In your group input menu, set Keymode to "Manual", set MIDI port, channel etc

You can also create a global macro layer where you add the knobs from all the various groups/sounds you need to tweak simultenously, and arrange these knobs in banks of 8 encoders per page (though you can only rearrange macros via Maschine desktop)

That Really Solved the Problem! The MIDI Routing for the Group was set to Drumkit instead of Manual. In Sound, all pads were set to ALL MIDI channels with the Source as the Internal MIDI Port. Now it's Working like a charm. 😀

Is it possible to select different Scenes by note?

Scene 1 would be C0

Scene 2 C#0

Scene 3 D0, and so on?

I am really loving the Potential for playing live with Maschine+. I know lots of users say it might be unstable, but if used wisely, I think it's Possible!

Yes, you can do this. You can use either program change or MIDI note messages (starting from note #0 upwards) for changing either patterns or scenes. Sorry, not at my Maschine+ right now, dont remember how to set it up by heart, either someone else can spill the beans or I'll edit my reply when I get home from work later tonight..

I can totally see Maschine+ as a useful "multitimbral MIDI module" for bands playing keyboards. You have a bunch of bread & butter synths, and can even use deeply multisampled instruments via custom Kontakt 6 patches for good sounding pianos, organs etc. You can connect a USB hub and then you could connect a bunch of keyboard controllers, each sending to their own groups. On top of that, you can even connect a mic and set up a vocoder (check SRSVocoder ensemble in the M+ Reaktor content thread on this forum) for one of the keyboardists! Quite a lot of utility in just a relatively compact device..
