So i guess you have Kontakt 5 and Windows 8?

If i may suggest, keeping so old hardware/software will do much more harm than good and eventually (and really soon) you will be forced to update.

I can understand Kontakt 5 but old windows? why? Windows 10 was free (and still are)!

So, the logical step here, is to update your Windows, it won't cost a thing. Then install Kontakt 7 Player (also free) until you can afford a full version. Finally update your Vienna Ensemble Pro. Upgrade using your old license costs 95 euro (https://www.vsl.co.at/en/Vienna_Software_Package/Vienna_Ensemble_Pro).

So, the whole story will cost you less than 100 euro and less than 2 days work, maximum. :-)

However, i have one question. Why you need Kontakt if you have Vienna (or vise-versa)?

This article is not fully accurate, at least in Europe, it is still possible. Well it was a week ago anyway. Maybe you are right for the very new users without older Windows. But if you running a genuine version of Windows 7/8/8.1 Home or Pro you can still do the upgrade by using this specific tool by Microsoft.

1- As i said, just a week ago i did this process for a friend... successfully. I do fix windows computers (hardware + software), on a semiprofessional level, since 1998, so, when i say something about them it is always tested and accurate.

2- The Windows Media Creator is the best way for installing windows, and the best way to have a complete control on the installation, unless for people who are familiar with Command Prompt / Windows PowerShell installations (which are even more advanced). It is how i upgrade any Windows computer for over a decade instead of using the Windows Update for it.

3- There is absolutely nothing to worry of, since even the most inexperienced users can easily revert on a previous version in the extremely rare case of a failure.

4- There are at least 3 links (i didn't searched for more) with articles, newer that yours, who support what i said: In fact they offer 3 different methods for doing it.
