Does anyone know how I can record arpeggio and Chord data from the ‘play assist’ section on Komplete Kontrol to Logic Audio Track.

So far I’ve tried:

MidiFX Freeze

Activating the ’record MIDI to Track here’ in Logic MIDI FX

checking ‘Komplete Kontrol Virtual Input’ in KK Midi Preferences

None of the above work. Surely there must be a way! It’s essential for any musician to be able to edit this data. Please Help!

    Hello,

as far as I remember logic au does not support midi out from plugins. Have you tried with another plugin format if that's possible - I'm not a mac and logic user myself so I don't know for sure.

Thanks for responding. Logic now supports the recording of midi effects (ie arpeggiator) but they have to be in the MIDI FX rack

Exactly and komplete kontrol is not a midi FX. It's really a DAW issue and an issue of the au plugin format as far as I can understand. For example cubase also has dedicated midi plugins but can also record midi out from Komplete kontrol loaded as vsti.

I have used MidiFX Freeze in the past successfully. It's a bit of a kludgy solution and I haven't tried it recently. Maybe newer versions of DAW or KK or Kontakt have broken it? I'll give it a try again when I have some spare time and report back if anything to say.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

I got it to partially work by:

    Launching KK

ticking the Virtual Komplete Kontrol option in KK preferences.

Launch Logic while keeping KK on in the background (if not the virtual KK disappears)

I’ve been able to record midgàS88 ARP and Chords MIDI about a quarter of the time. It crashed a few times as well

    Thank for all your responses!

@JLP Prior to Logic 10.8 this was not possible, it seems that it's now possible. Unfortunately Apple did not mention this feature anywhere and it's behaving strangely with our keyboards, both are recorded in Logic, the notes you play and the notes generated by the arp and chord functions. You can read all about it here: Official known issues with (and features of) Komplete Kontrol 3.0.2 and Logic Pro 10.8

Hopefully this will work properly at some point.
