Komplete Kontrol S series MK1 keyboards End Of Life

Ding ding..... I view the mk3 as more of a kontakt/komplete kontrol keyboard and less of a midi controller/keyboard. The Midi 2 stuff tramps on their proprietary turf because it's pretty much open source...automatic mappings and such. I think this Korg keyboard is on the right track.and there will be many more players jumping in.

As a result of Waves ignoring the fans and forcibly shutting down the service, many core Waves fans turned into anti-waves fans. Didn't NI see this?

If someone reverse engineered the Mk1s you could potentially write a midi 2 software wrapper for them...
If NI does not want to support KK Sxx mk1 any more, it would be fair to customers at least provide tech info about protocol used or better to release source code for communication as open source.
Then one could possibly write MIDI 2 wrapper. At least kind of.....

Wait... what have Waves shut down now? Did I miss something?

I would like to know what this means as well.
Nothing different at Waves this morning from my chair.

I'd suspect it's just a not well-stated reference to when Waves tried a subscription-only service early this or last year... not exactly a parallel to the MK1 situation.

True, or a firmware update giving a midi cc number to every single button of the MK1 as it loses so much in midi mode. It has been done by a YouTuber somehow but hasn’t be dug out much.
like on KK3 you can use midi mode with kk mk1 but cannot map any arrows navigation or transport in midi mode 🤷. Whatever right ?

Makes sense to me. Not even in the same ballpark.

"Just a little bit puzzled by why people are blindly buying it NOW that none of those features are there."
Maybe I wanted it now, and I had the money now? Maybe because I didn't have to get a permission slip from somebody else?
Kind of like why I had a smoked salmon salad for lunch. I wanted it and I had all the parts on hand to make it happen. And nobody tells me what to eat, so I ate like a king. Scottish salmon; I had no idea that the Scots have salmon!
Also, Native Instruments is turning over a new leaf; reaching out to the community and generally being less secretive and all. If they were still behaving the same way as they did even just 2 years ago, I probably wouldn't have bought my MK3 yet.
Still "a bit puzzled"?

"Not everyone lives in the USA and its laws apply literally nowhere else, often because they are so tilted towards the rich."
Untrue (and a little bit insulting, coming from somebody who doesn't even live here). I also suspect that you and I wouldn't even agree on a common definition of "rich".

Yes, let's all stop giving bad legal advice. This forum is frequented by people from many different countries, each with its own set of laws.

No. I asked to Nightjar because I had the curiosity. Never said anyone need any permission.
Happy if someone is happy. And that I had answers helping me to understand
As I said, it was just a curiosity to understand. Because to my very personal point of view, and using your lunch metaphor, buying it now as it has been released is a little bit like saying “I want to eat a smoked salmon salad” and buying it with the vendor telling you “but at the moment your smoked salmon salad has no salmon in it. We will give it to you later next year (maybe)”.
I would probably eat something else and buy the smoked salmon salad when it will effectively have salmon in it
But I understand that not everyone see it as I do, therefore there’s no problem for me.
Hope I explained you from where my being puzzled and curiosity came from and that my question to Nightjar doesn’t disturb you that much anymore

"...So, Vagus, what is the name of your studio, or band, or label, or project?
...or are you a fake?"
This is an arguing tactic that always serves to lose my respect, because it always carries its own undertone of disrespect.
A person can have an opinion, and they don't need to prove anything. And in the NI community, at least as far as I'm concerned, Vagus doesn't need to prove anything to anybody in order to have his opinion.

Thank you for the info on Bitwig and the scripts for MK1.
But I'd be more interested in having similar scripts for the MK1 and Cubase, as well as the MK1 and Ableton Live.
