How/can I record the movement in a manipulation area to midi?
Lots of Kontakt instruments have a "manipulation area or XY motion pad" (they seem to be called differently by each instrument), usually in the center, that can change parameters by moving your mouse (like in the Muze Eclipse instrument shown below).
As I am recording to midi, how do I record the changes I am making with this section- like when holding a note and then altering the sound with the mouse? Or is this not possible?
Thanks in advance!

Quick update: Super easy in Ableton. It records what I do with the mouse in the XY and you can watch it move around on playback.

Hello,
in your daw you should find all automatable parameters on the instrument track, there you should find an x and y parameter. You just add it and then you can record the automation. Itr of course depends also a bit on your daw. Here for example you see the host automatable parameters fort thrill:

Most importantly, while a mouse or trackpad does move the XY pad's cursor, it does not send recordable midi to the plugin and thus can't be recorded for automation. If you have a hardware XY pad which sends midi, you could use that

With thrill i was able to record midi into cubase, with my mouse movement, on the GUI with my mouse but with host automation not midi automation.

Oh wow, that sounds interesting! So, the mouse/trackpad was configured as an OSC source or something? I am a bit clueless right now on how I would set that up in Reaper.
I also have to say that once I started using the Maschine Jam as a multi-touch-multi-fader MIDI input device for complex instruments like these I basically never looked back...

a link that might help
Also, the new script added in Kontakt 6.6.1 called, '2 XY Midi Controller', might be of use. Someone should find out how it works and what it does.

I have reaper installed and can have a look, i only know in cubase it works via host automation and i guess in reaper it will work too.

Thank you for the responses! I am using Acid 10 right now but have been learning Reaper and just installed Ableton Lite. It seems to be DAW dependent. I can't find any way for Acid to record it. The information is under the Automation Tab:
I did find a video that shows someone recording it in Logic and that he mentions Abelton has automation lanes (but I am so completely green with Ableton to even know where that is):

The '2 XY Midi Controller' script sounds interesting as well. Would love to get this working in Acid but I may have to look into Ableton (or Reaper) capabilities.
