Any NKS Ready Drum Machines?

Hi everyone,

Since adopting "practically only" NKS ready instruments, I have recently been itching to buy something to do 606, 707, etc style drum machines. It occurred to me that there might be something out there that is NKS ready? (To work with my KK S49)

Does anyone know of any drum machines? Thanks in advance :)

Freelance soundlabs have made NKS maps for the 606, 707, 727 and 808. If you own the Roland software products, you can purchase the maps. Unfortunately Roland does not provide native NKS files, but Freelance does make excellent maps. The audio previews take up a good bit of space but these are optional. You can remove these if needed.

Thank you - yes, I was aware of Freelance Soundlabs (I have purchased quite a few products from him) but I have yet to even consider Roland Cloud...it looks so confusing!? Memberships, cloud, lifetime instrument, ugh...I just want to own an instrument (or VST) and use it. I have seriously considered purchasing their lovely TR-8s but, I figure with everything I've invested into NI, I should look to see what's around.

I will take some time to check out the roland virtual instruments. Thanks for that tip.

thanks! I saw the Waves Alchemy stuff....are they NKS ready though? I downloaded the "demo" of Revolution, and it only appears in Kontakt (no VST supplied) It didn't appear when I opened Komplete Kontrol

Kontakt instrument from Wave Alchemy - their most advanced drum macine, with drag and drop midi - tonnes of stuff for all genres, and NKS Ready.

They've also got a 50% sale on at the moment. I bought this at full price, but at £69, you'd be crazy not to look at it:

Battery?

Has some capable kits in that style, that's what I tend to use for most electro drums over anything else. I am just finishing off Groove Agent (complete pain) and have both XO and Addictive Drums as NKS but because I own Push and IMO it is much better hammering out drums on pads, and kits are way nicer to setup in Ableton on Push due to ease of pad colouring and bussing of kit elements, I tend to not dive too much into making NKS for drum plugins. Infact I converted Battery kits into Push controlled kits and don't use NKS or my S keyboard for drums at all.

That and most drum plugins (like Toon Tracks) offer so many different kits it's impossible to cover them all easily without investing significant cost and usually I like to use just a few custom kits or build my own from samples.

Thank you for pointing out Battery. I've never explored it. Gosh, imagine if it were right under my nose all this time...

TBH, some NI products completely elude me...like Polyplex, Battery, Prism, Razor, Form. If I can't figure out how they work (or what they do) by fooling around with them, I just give up. Ideally looking for some patterns with electronic kits, and a simple start/stop button, and I can go from there!

Does look very comprehensive. I'm not really much of a drum user though but when I do prefer something synthetic, I always thought the best dum plugin was FXPansion Tremor but that is sadly discontinued. Still it is a good price and looks very flexible. They are fun to play with, just don't feature much in my music which tends to be more drone than beat based.

btw I have Battery but hate that it's so tiny on my 5K screen - how is Triaz in terms of size? Lots of Kontakt stuff is also too tiny

Ok - just having a quick revisit here.

I was really encouraged after looking at battery 4 (sounds great, works in KKontrol) but it doesn't play! You require midi files to make it play beats, loops, patterns, etc...

I wanted to find a drum machine that works in Komplete Kontrol that works like a drum machine, in that it has a start\stop button and some different variations on beats etc.
