Kontakt Factory Library 2 install wrongly sees free space on MacOS

Hi - it seems that the installer on MacOS / M1 cannot correctly calculate free space.
I have a 2TB drive with 660GB free, and the installer says
"Installation has been prevented
You do not have enough free drive space to install the product(s):
• 158 GB required on "Macintosh HD" please free an additional 34 GB"
Any ideas?

this is a very long-standing bug that NI hasn't bothered to fix for years
here are some possible solutions

Out of curiosity, were you using Native Access 2? The new Native Access has a slight better handling of this issue: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/native-access-2/

Hi Jeremy - I was using Native Access 1.14.
Thank you for the suggestion. I actually did not know that Native Access 2 is not an update to N.A.1, so I downloaded version 2, but unfortunately... running it gives me "Dependency installation process is taking longer than normal..." - forever. I tried to run the M1 version.
It seems I need to go back to 1.14.
(MacBook Pro 14" M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD, free 600GB).

I have the same issue on Native Access 3.8.0. Trying to install 39GB of Kontact Factory Library 2, it says I need 99GB space and I have 280GB space available, yet it fails saying there's not enough space!
Any help appreciated.

Is that on an external drive? How much space do you have on your system drive? Even you have the download location on your external drive you will still need enough space on your system drive for the installer to be able to unpack itself into virtual memory and transfer files to their final locations

You might have the problem where you have a lot of free space but some is marked "purgeable". If that's the problem there's an explanation here - Native Access Error Message: "Installation has been prevented. You do not have enough free drive space to install the products." – Native Instruments (native-instruments.com)
I had the same thing on my mac and used a product called "Daisy Disk" to clear the purgeable space. I'm sure there's other ways to do it, but DD worked for me

Hi Kymela,
Thanks for your reply. No it's not an external drive, just the standard internal storage on my MacBook Pro... 🧐

Hi mykejb, Thank you for your reply. I had already read that and I do have 154GB marked as purgeable, but I figured that still left me 125GB and shouldn't be the problem. However, as I can't get anything else to work, I'll go with your suggestion and have a look at Daisy Disk to purge my system! Thanks for the recommendation.
