loading NI drum kits in logic and/or mapping roland v drums to maschine.

hello,

i want to:

a) load NI drum kits (specifically the abbey road acoustic ones) into logic to control with roland v drums and/or

b) control maschine 2 software with roland v drums with correct mapping.

a) NI abbey road acoustic drums in logic

i have loaded a new software instrument and followed all steps in this link:

when browsing AU instruments → NI i get two options: maschine 2 and kontakt 8.

within kontakt 8 i have drum lab downloaded. under the kits tab there are 61 kits, but they don't correspond to the ones i see if i open maschine → all groups → kits → acoustic kits.

what i've done:

i have signed out of native access, signed back in and updated/reinstalled drumlab and kontakt 8 player.

i have gone into macbook settings and allowed full disk access to NI kontakt and logic.

i've read online that maybe my autumn kits are out of date and i need to reload….NI is asking £189 for this.

question: why can't i see the full range of kits i can see in maschine 2 in the kontakt 8 tab in logic? are they hiding somewhere?

b) controlling maschine 2 w/ roland v drums.

i can find and control the kits i want in maschine software using v drums but the midi mapping is seemingly impossible to work out (eg hit hat on snare drum etc). logic seems to map drums sounds more accurately/with less hassle, and logic drum sounds map directly to v drums.

question:

any tips on midi mapping?

@thebozboz You mention Abbey road drummer series and Drumlab. Drumlab was thought for Maschine 2 and was bundled with it. In Kontakt 8, in standalone or in Logic if you want to find the same kits as in Maschine 2, you just need to choose these filters, choose All Sub Banks

For Dumlab you don't have so many options when it comes to mapping. You habve to map every sound of the kit yourself.

The Abbey Road drummer series have more options in that department. You can select pre made mappings, including some V Drums models, this in standalone, Maschine 2 or Logic. In Maschine 2 if you want to get into deeper settings, you will need to click that little arrow:

You mention not finding the same drum kits in Logic, which ones are missing exactly? If you open Kontakt 8 in standalone, are these libraries showing? How do they show in Native Access? Do you have previous versions of Kontakt installed on your system?

If they show as installed in Native Access but not in Kontakt 8 in standalone, we would recommend to reset Kontakt 8's database:

1. Hold down the alt key on your computer's keyboard and click Go in the Finder menu bar. Choose the appearing Library entry in the drop-down menu.
   
2. Navigate to Application Support > Native Instruments.
   
3. Depending on the Kontakt version you are using, delete the following folder:
   
   Kontakt 5: "Kontakt 5"
   Kontakt 6: "Kontakt"
   Kontakt 7: "Kontakt 7"
   Kontakt 8: "Kontakt 8"
   
4. Start Kontakt as a standalone application (not in your DAW).
