Kontrol S88MK3 lost connection

My keyboard was working yesterday, then today when I started making music, it didn't.

When I touched the host usb cable on the keyboard side, the unit would turn off and on again, then just stopped turning on.

I'm currently working through InMusic support, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thank you Matthew for that info. I'm on a Mac M1 Pro and have never had any issues whatsoever having the keyboard plugged in directly to my laptop. But as I said, it's working again and has not had any issues since September 11.

Sounds like either a faulty cable or damaged USB port on the keyboard. Have you tried different cables and also ports on your computer?

My apologies, I should have elaborated. Yes, I tried different cables, different power supplies, plugged into my computer and into a wall socket.

The strangest thing of all? I waited a day, and the keyboard turned itself on and started working. So it's working, for now. NI Support told me that if it was broken, I'd have to send it off to a repair place and gave me some suggestions on whereto send it.

I mean, I've had this keyboard for 2 years. It has sat in the same place for 2 years, and has not been moved, so I'm kinda shocked that I'm having issues with it.

If it does die, I'll not be getting another MK3. But for now it works, and I'm happy that it is.

This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer.

Even with a USB-C hub, you might occasionally see errors during firmware updates (error -2). This can happen if the USB Controller is overloaded, especially if other devices are connected and transferring data during the update.

Solution:
To fix this, power your keyboard using a wall charger, unplug any other USB devices from your computer, and then try the firmware update again.

Hi OP—so this didn't happen while updating the firmware, but just while actually using it to make music? I hope that never happens to me—please! That would be my personal hell. I'm in Ecuador, and if my S88 MK3 broke, I'd lose all my money; importing it here was an ordeal. Even when it's hot, some of the black keys hit the top of the keybed when I release them. But hey, I'm still happy with it.
